If You want to go for SEO you must go for "com" but not "me'.

.com is the best way forward, although i've had no problems in ranking other domain extensions, i don't really care for extensions anymore. but for branding reasons, .com is the much more favorable.

.me great if you want to be viral

BTW buy both and choose one is more great.

I would go for .com, brand wise and it's universal.
