I am a newbie and i am sure that i am learning here a lot... I am a programmer and now learning a lot about seo here. Thanks seo gurus. I am sorry if i am posting in the wrong section.

I am planning of buying some keyword domains and i need to know whether .com or .info or .in will play a key role in serp??

If yes how much??

stick to .com, org and net. but i always go from my country code first
like .co.uk (England) i find that local code always beats down the .com ect..

I think you are talking about you local google (.co.uk).

well it matters but only 0.0001%..
i read a lot that .com is considered as a spam and difficult to get rankings but then i experimented myself n its not true..if you have a good site then it doesn't matter that its .com or .info. and yes if you want to target a specific country then use country level domains like, co.uk etc it will give you ranking quickly(in that region) but still it doesn't mean that you cant get ranking with .com in that country..But it will take more time n effort .com

So the content and the seo plays a major role and google doesn't cares about whether it is .com or .info.

Thanks for the clarification guys..

Google says it doesn't favor domains based on tlds but when was the last time you searched for any keyword of any niche and found the first result to be a .info?

You can rank for any keyword with any domain. It's just harder. I did a test recently and with no SEO effort for an exact domain match. I guess people prefer different but my conclusion resulted in .com being in 42nd position, .net being in 52 position, .org being in 45 position and info being in 72 position. Infos can rank, although its harder than a .com, as in more backlinks are needed. We all know matt and google likes to keep people in the dark, and not exactly tell the truth the whole time.

So .info would be the least value in choosing a domain?? its better to go up with a .com domain than .info or .in

The answer to this question is the same as to this one - When was the last time you saw an .info site that had better and more relevant information than other sites?
