Say I found a for sale .co domain with an address identical to a popular .com domain.

Think of reddit.com / reddit.co well. a bit less popular. What do I do to get the most our of it?

If they also have the trademark of that name, you will lose it very soon.

Not register it.

You will lose the domain if you are trying to use their image / represent them in any way to help monetize your site. If it's a completely different niche then it is fine to have.

Thing is, that name is pretty generic, can't be used as a trademark I think. something like apple, only with less lawyers. So I can basically make a website about apples, will they still be able to take that down?
