Collecting Emails + Wordpress

Hello fellow BHW members, hope you're all having a great day and filled with profits.

I'm on a journey to diversify my income to future proof myself against ad account bans, social profiles disabled, etc. My newest project is in WP and collecting emails from my visitors is one of my main goals. I did this years ago with Sendy + Amazon SES but i know these days things are a bit more complicated and it's pretty easy to get banned on Amazon SES.

1. What platform do you recommend to collect and manage all the emails + newsletters? Something that works or has a plugin for WP would be great.
2. I intend to send 1 email per week per subscriber. Do you recommend double opt-in for the newsletter? The content is white hat.

In my experience, the "Newsletter" Wordpress plugin does a terrific job when it comes down to managing mailing lists. You can integrate it with your existing SMTP server, as long as you have the plugin's addon. In my opinion, double opt-in is only really necessary when you don't have a strict firewall/security configuration and you don't have any captcha on your form. If your ultimate goal is collecting email addresses, forget about the double opt-in and reduce friction as much as possible.

Thank you for the reply! The plugin you referred is this one? https://wordpress.org/plugins/newsletters-lite/

I don't have a SMTP server. Some people use their own (i manage my WP server in linux with WordOPS) but usually get into spam issues later on. What do you recommend? I've searched a bit on BHW and saw some people recommending SendGrid.

I use Sendinblue, however I heard good things about SendGrid. In the past I've also tried Mailchimp and it works decently. From what I know, it takes quite a lot of effort to get a SMTP running properly. Banned IPs, warming up, spam abuses. I'd rather pay a higher price for a monthly subscription and have a ready-to-use solution.

My suggestion is calculate your email volume, get a dedicated IP and start slow. Best of luck with your journey!

Consider using platforms like MailChimp, AWeber, or ConvertKit, which integrate well with WordPress. Sending one email per week is reasonable; double opt-in can help ensure quality subscribers and comply with regulations. Best of luck with your email collection journey!

for me sumo is a great tools with a genereuse free plan, even i was spaming my list before with cpa offers they just send me a worning email to just change my strategy, in auther platforms they will kik you out with no mercy.
