Cold Calling

People who write stupid books like cold calling doesnt work etc know most people are scared to cold call.
Maybe its easier for a woman maybe i just have bigger balls than most of you ladyboys on this board..but i love cold calling.
Grow a pair ..nothing in life is easy..
i like to think of cold calling as dialing for dollars..2 out of 100 is ok by me because the 2 will pay the rent..

you keep banging away on your 2% success rate and covering your rent....

people who write those "stupid books" are typically those that have had a lot of experience in cold calling and have found a better way. Unfortunately, typical cold calling is old school, and nothing creates higher turnover in sales than some old school idiot sales manager that believes to make more sales means to just cold call more. Do I still cold call? Yep, but there are smarter ways to do it than just pound the phones hoping for some positive response. Things have changed.

Excuse me for saying, but you're full of it. Nobody loves cold calling.

Cold call for meetings. Get the receptionist, and say you are from XXX Comapny and you would like a meeting with [insert name of owner here]. Hopefully, she won't even ask about what. If she does, say that your company as a business proposition for them.

Essentially, don't see the product on the phone, sell the meeting. It is easier to convert customers in person than it is on the phone. In person you can also bring your ipad or whatever other nice technology you have to flash around and show off. Be sure to get your offline marketing gig down well; dress for success and groom yourself to the absolute max. Do you have a business suit? If not leave and get a properly fitted one now kk.

funny, i guess I am the "old school idiot sales manager" as that is exactly what I believe, but I have been at this pimp and whore business for a long time. I would love to know what you are finding to be new and effective forms of cold calling. I am always reinventing, trialing, and testing. But if you do not have the numbers, imo - you will not have the numbers!?

hahaha. I saw 8-5 and thats all I saw....didnt realize until now that it was back in 2010...whoops.

Someone above mentioned cold calling for meetings, but even if you can turn the cold call into some type of remote presentation where you can point out their SEO flaws it probably would make it easier for you.

Cold calling can be really tough... if you can work referrals out of those cold calls, it can really up your closing rate. Be sure to ask for referrals from the people who aren't interested.

Like anything else in marketing, ITS A NUMBERS GAME!!!

Look at Wall Street brokers, the best cold-callers around, and learn from them. If they can convince someone over the phone to buy a financial company in the middle of a global recession, you can sell an honest service. It just takes practice and persistance. Cold calling changed my life for the better, and it definitely put some hair on my pair. Its going to be a great learning experience because just like with evertything else you have to fail to succeed.

For some inspiration, watch some YouTube videos of Boiler Room, Persuit of Happiness and the famous Alec Baldwin Glengarry Glen Ross speech

GOOD LUCK!

Has anyone offered FREE web design services in order to land long-term SEO deals?

I'm thinking about offering free setup of a WordPress site with design (I'll just customize a premade theme, outsource logo design) in order to get people to buy year-long SEO packages from me.

Sound feasible to anyone?
