Caffeine resistance develops with time, but it's not a good idea to just keep upping the dosage. One option is to stop coffee for a while and your resistance will decrease, but that's no going to fix the real problem.
The main issue is that caffeine can't be a substitute for sleep. If you are not getting a healthy amount of sleep, caffeine will never be enough in the long term. Something that helps with good sleep is sport and exercise - like being tired physically. If you've had a good healthy sleep, it's easier to wake up and not be sleepy, especially with a some caffeine.
