Hi all, I'm diving into BH advertising on FB, using Voluum and GTM for tracking and a cloaker.
I have two questions about cloaking the FB Pixel:
  1. Is it mandatory to use the FB Pixel, or can I rely solely on the CAPI API?
  2. What's the best method to cloak the pixel—cropping the pixel, proxying it, setting it on a thank you page?or something else?
Any insights or tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

For CAPI, many are moving toward using it exclusively, but combining it with the Pixel still gives better optimization and data depth in most cases.
As for cloaking methods, different setups work for different scenarios - some go with thank-you page placements, others use server-side proxies or custom triggers via GTM. Just test carefully and stay updated with Meta's behavior.

1. You should use pixel, it will bring more data, and the more data u have, the more info you have on your viewers
2. I find setting it on thank you page works best

Pixels are not required if you have properly configured CAPI, but in BH setups, not having a pixel can sometimes cause the system to flag it as a missing signal. If you still want to keep the pixel, it is often best to put it in a clean prelander with clear navigation logic. Some people use redirects or iframes to separate the data, but it is important that the signal flow matches real user behavior to avoid suspicion. Avoid pixels on offer or thank-you pages if you do not control the content. Proper structure from the start is still the strongest line of defense.

without using pixels.it is very difficult to collect data in the long run it is really beneficial.it is like a repository and learns by itself.

It's important to stay compliant with Facebook's policies, and cloaking or attempting to deceive Facebook's tracking systems could result in account penalties or bans.
-Pixel vs. CAPI: While Facebook Pixel is standard for tracking, CAPI (Conversions API) is a good alternative or complement, especially for server-side tracking. You don’t necessarily need both, but combining them can help improve tracking accuracy.
-Cloaking: Cloaking is a violation of Facebook's policies. Any attempt to deceive Facebook (whether through pixel manipulation or hiding content) can lead to severe penalties. Instead of cloaking, it's better to ensure that your ads and landing pages comply with Facebook’s guidelines. Always focus on compliant, high-quality ads and transparent tracking.
For a sustainable strategy, focus on optimizing your campaigns and tracking methods in line with Facebook's guidelines to avoid account issues.

You can use CAPI alone, but combining it with Pixel helps optimize faster. Best cloaking method is firing the Pixel only on thank-you pages shown to real users, not bots.

Runs entirely on CAPI which is more secure for BH setups and works great on the server side. Only fire the Pixel on the thank you page to avoid FB scanning your channel.

CAPI can work independently if the data stream is designed carefully, especially when prioritizing server-side tracking to reduce footprint. However, if pixels are still used, the safest bet is to delay the trigger, attach it after the prelander, or fire it only on the thank you page under specific conditions. Some setups also route it through clean domains and proxies to obscure the signal. Regardless of the technique, the key is a clean signal and consistent tracking logic – hiding is easy, but hiding it properly is really effective.

Facebook Pixel vs. CAPI API:
You're not required to use the Pixel if you've properly set up CAPI (Conversions API). In fact, CAPI is more reliable in cloaking environments since it sends data from the server side, making it harder for Meta to detect suspicious activities. However, for optimal performance and better event matching, many advertisers still use both Pixel and CAPI together — just be careful to control which events are sent from each source.
Effective ways to cloak the Pixel: Fire the Pixel only on the Thank You Page: This is the safest method. Only real users (not reviewers) will trigger the Pixel event.

Thank you!
1. Do you know if the same rule also apply for Native platforms like Taboola, MediaGO etc?
2. Is it recommended to use a proxy when sending events through the CAPI (Conversions API)?

I have deployed many BH campaigns on Facebook with the integrated tracking system Voluum + GTM like you are doing.

Regarding your question:

1. You are not required to use FB Pixel if you have integrated well with CAPI, especially in an environment that requires anonymity. However, combining both still allows for more accurate and optimal tracking if handled properly.

2. The best way to hide Pixel is to use server-side proxy or delay firing, instead of placing it directly on the thank-you page. “Pixel cutting” or late triggering will help reduce footprint and avoid detection from Meta.

3. In addition, make sure the cloaker you use is strong enough to properly channel traffic — because if the cloaker is exposed, hiding the pixel will no longer be meaningful.

Cloaking Facebook Pixel is against Facebook’s policies and can result in account bans. It's best to avoid cloaking and focus on compliant strategies like:
-Using Facebook’s Conversions API (CAPI) for server-side tracking.
-Ensuring clear and transparent content.
-Optimizing campaigns with A/B testing and tracking performance in line with Facebook's guidelines.
Staying compliant is crucial for long-term success with Facebook ads.

If you're using Volume + GTM and cloaking, you’re already on solid ground, but yeah, cloaking the Facebook Pixel directly is risky and usually not worth the headache. CAP API is a lot more resilient in BH flows.

Instead of pixel-based triggers, try firing conversions via CAP server-side, like on click or scroll, but only for filtered traffic. You’ll get better separation that way and avoid leaking signals back to Meta.

As for prelanders: don’t show the same one to both clean and cloaked traffic. Rotate paths, test different creatives, and make sure user behavior stays natural (browser profiles, time on page, click paths). That’s where most setups trip up.

We usually dont intall the pixel, it's not mandatory and especially for BH products you should avoid using it without taking proper precautions.

Pixels need to be nurtured in large interactive ads and the target audience needs to be precisely matched to your future ads.

- You can rely on CAPI only, but using FB Pixel together is still recommended for redundancy and better tracking data.
- For cloaking the pixel, safest methods often include firing it on a thank-you page or proxying it with server-side setups - avoid cropping or risky manipulations unless you really know what you're doing.
