Client refuses to pay for no reason. What to do?

I think you should reveal the company name. You might get better answers/help because the same company might have scammed other forum members too.

I second this.
unless there's something your missing out of this situation?

Wow really helpful responses you guys!

Not sure who to thank first so:

Thank you all!!

I will take all the suggestions in this thread and start making some informed decisions.

Thanks again, BHW!!!!!! :pirate:

Ps. I think I'm going to wait with revealing them and try a few of the suggestions posted here first, then if that doesn't work, I promise to bump this thread and expose the crap out of them.

Also OP, depending on the size of the company, the person ordering the services might not be the person responsible for payments.
If you have not had a response via telephone or email then a registered/recorded letter with Invoice attached might get the reaction you want.

Dude,

take the high road and chalk it up to experience. You've learned a valuable lesson and it cost you only $300.

Do you consider yourself a professional? If so,then act like one.

In future, as a couple of others have pointed out, ALWAYS ask for at least half the money up front. If they have a problem with that, then good. They aren't the ones you'd want to do business with anyway.

All the best.

Ripoffreport is a great place to rant about a company I remember being fired from a company for something I didn't think was my fault, I felt so helpless and alone so I posted exactly what happened on ripoff report talking about what a low life company they were since I knew a little seo secrets I put it to work and in about 2 or 3 days I typed in the company's name and what do you think I seen on the first page of google the exact story I posted about them unfortunately though they went down and I feel so bad for them because my story is still haunting them on googles 2nd page right today and this was about 7 or 8 years ago and my life couldn't be better. After saying all of that I want to tell you to ignore the whole thing because karma is a bitch so just continue to do good works and it will come back to you 100 fold.

Do you have a copy of the original agreement and was the person who made the agreement with you authorized to do so
on behalf of the company?
What were the payment terms and have they breached them?
Have you invoiced their finance department?

If you do, they were, they have and you have, take them to the small claims court.

If it is a large company sometimes the right person just isn't getting the messages. Pick up the phone and speak to the accounting department. Actually, get on the phone and don't get off until you get a satisfactory response/answer.

Many times it is due to people switching departments and not relaying the messages.

We had an instance where a company owed $3,500 for a project that was completed. Spent 2 months playing email tag. Finally just got on the phone and went through the channels until I spoke with the CFO. Long story short there was a certified check and a bottle of champagne at the office the next day. Turns out the person that I was emailing back and forth those 2 months changed positions and just didn't forward the emails. It happens.

Before you go on a smear run speak to the people at the top. If you are owed money they will take care of it. Just be professional.

What I did in a similar situation was to the person who was personally responsible for screwing me over:

1. Posted their phone number on my facebook page and explained to all my FB friends the situation
2. Requested that all my FB friends call and ask that the guy stop being a jerk and pay me
3. Request that all my FB friends share my post with their friends and ask that we finally show the big corporations that the little guy has power and please call and share with the world.

I got paid by wire transfer 48 hours later. And the guy got fired.

And that was Comcast Corporate office

Hey Everyone,

So I did some work for this very well known company 6-7 months ago, and they still haven't paid me.
There was never a disagreement, and they were very pleased with the work that I did. I'm positive we left on good terms.
They said they would sent a check, but they never did.
In the past 6 months, I've asked and contacted them 7 freaking times, but they don't respond to my calls, emails or anything.
Absolutely nothing.... not even an email.
I'm super pissed off.... Any advice? What can I do?
It's only for $300..... BUT STILL!.... It's my freaking money.
Collection agency worth it?
Hope you guys can help?
don't you have consumer courts ?
if yes file a case...you will get your money with interest ..plus you can add depression n mental harassment bills with it...
I hope it works for u

What is the name of the company? Or the website of them?

What does consumer courts have to do with OP's case? Seriously, post counts don't increase in the lounge.

Trashing a company via social media, posting bad reviews ect can have a negative affect on your own business.
As many companies now do a social search on prospective business partners before an agreement is made it could
reflect badly on your business acumen and lose you that all exclusive deal.
Once you have exhausted all legal avenues then by all means go ahead but are you going to risk the possibility of
greater rewards for the sake of $300?
It take a big man to bite the bullet in business but a real businessman would weigh up risk over reward.
How much time are you going to spend chasing that $300? And how much could you of made in that time?
Big companies know this and will drag it out through litigation knowing full well you will have to fold at some time.
So before you go trashing them online make sure you have all your ducks in order because if they counterclaim
for liable you are stuffed.

Totally agree with that.
Of course all avenues should be exhausted first.
Also, just to clarify, my advice after that was to engage with them via social media, rather than trash them in public.

i have done it often with well known companies - if you ask the same question you asked via email, via social media, you often get a much better resolution on the later.

Thanks everyone!!! Great advice, I'll keep yall posted! ;):D:D:D:):)
