I never thought about this before, but if I was to click on competitor ads, would this cost them money? is there a limit to what google will charge them for? for eg only on click counts per hour, or the click only counts if I spent 'x' amount of time on their page etc. Or only a certain amount per IP or device? how much is it possible to run up ppc bill before getting flagged?

I just saw an ad for a product that supposedly stops it and was thinking maybe some black hat folks have done, or know about how to do this the best way. Not saying I am going to do this.....but if I was....what would be the best way?

Yes, in theory, if you click an ad that belongs to a competitor - your competitor gets to pay for it.

Just make sure you spend the bulk of your time doing something else :)

It’s called click fraud. It’s very common.

Yes it would cost them money. Depending on the industry, it could cost them a LOT.
