Your site PR affects only about 10 percent of the SERP results so don't expect much help even if you have a high PR. Just focus on getting high PR backlinks to your site and using different anchor text for your keywords.

if your doing link building for serp improvement purposes, pr will tell you that your backlinks are indexed and how good are your backlinks...

but if your doing link building for not serp improvement, PR will not help you rank.

I think PR confuses people so much because it is an indicator to Google what kind of authoritative sites link to your website. If you have a low PR is can be assumed that your website doesn't have any authority sites linking to you. However, that doesn't mean you can't rank for your targeted keywords

I have considered PR juice to be a misnomer for the last 2 years, never utilized the item to build quality links!
