Register there and pick a company to advertise their product anywhere on the internet. You can find any company there. Supposing you picked Converse. Go and tell people online how cool converse shoes are. You can do it on social media, on forums, or like most people do - create your own website and start writing articles about shoes. As soon as people who read your content are convinced and going to buy a new pair of converse shoes, give them a link to Converse with your personal affiliate tag in it (you will get this link from CJ). If people go through the link and buy shoes, you will get a commission.
Yeah, it's this simple.
Edit. I think the process description I wrote above applies to most affiliate networks, but not CJ. Because you cannot just go and start promoting Converse shoes. You have to have a website ready first. And Converse will take a look at your website before letting you advertise their product. But, generally, it is a very rough pattern of how affiliate marketing works.
