They are the largest foreign creditor, but only #3 overall, the Federal Reserve is #2 and the Social Security Trust is #1.
I'm afraid most of that is home-grown. Though from time to time as much as 30% is from East Asia.
Car emissions are the majority of the problem. It's because everybody drives their own car, by themselves, long distances, every day, and for their whole lives!
And the public transportation is terrible when compared to the likes of New York... and the we expand out instead of up like NY.

But its not going to increase the cost of items, if the fed starts printing a bunch of items. The price of many items has remained the same for years.
A brand new xbox 360 game still costs $59.99 which is same price as it was in 2005, if it was really affected by u.s. government printing more money, it would cost $68 right now.
Man... you can't base the value of US currency on Xbox 360 games.
Lest I point out the obvious, there's many factors that go into both the value of money and the value of Xbox 360 games. And the stagnancy of one does not necessarily coincide with the stagnancy of the other.
I'm fairly sure the brilliant economist and wealthy industrialist H.E. Pennypacker proved that inflation was tied directly to the price of video games.
