In the long run, I think Google will sanction AI-generated content. But, mb now it's a good possibility to reach wide audience. But it is necessary to catch the moment to throw in the author's texts

I would say AI can definitely rank in SERP. For some people AI content seems weird, therefore I always try to edit the text manually to make it look as humanly written as possible.

AI content still ranks and Google doesn't care much about if you are producing content with the use of AI.

Whether it will rank or not will depend on how hard is that keyword. You cannot rank for weight loss with AI content.
