Now Chat GPT gets access to updated and up-to-date information from the internet. This is announced by Open AI in a post on X. Previously, the information Chat GPT had access to extended until September 2021.

To begin with, only Plus and Enterprise users will have access to the new feature, but it will soon be extended to all users, according to the company.

This was a very much needed feature. They took a lot of time to implement this but let us pray that it works well.

Is it a premium only feature?
Or
Is there a way to turn it on/off as I don't see anything in my account.

Will be interesting to see how this works with all those detailed crafted prompts.

I was able to surf on the internet since some months before (through it and after that through a plugin). Anyway, in good hands, very good feature.

Does this mean that in ChatGPT I will not get the answer "In my last update of january 2022"...
I will receive an updated answer depending on my question? And it will be up to date? :)

I wonder if it will work in such a way as:

"Can you write an article about today's news on X, Y and Z"

I wonder how newspapers/media sources would take that.

A lot of newspapers already use some sort of automation in their reporting so they probably wouldn't care. I'd suspect most news websites have taken advantage of the GPT-bot opt out that they released after people started using the Browse With Bing feature to get around paywalls (they always stop all the fun!). It'd definitely work though, you can already use Bing Chat really well for that feature if you want to.

so its back? that feature was enabled before as beta and then got removed.
it worked 50/50 as it cant browse some sites or click through or navigate a site to get the needed information, but still its a good feature to have.

I remember ages ago when it first came out I sent it website links to summarise and it did it, but then it started saying it can't search the internet a while after

I asked chatgpt plus : who won the world cup 2022 the answer was :

"As of my last training cut-off in January 2022, the FIFA World Cup 2022 had not concluded. You may want to check the latest results from a current and updated source or the official FIFA website."

How does this upgrade work

You guys are forgetting Bing already does this, and it is not as mind-blowing as it sounds.
