Chat gpt is driving me crazy

I don't get the negativity here. Chatgpt writes much better content than outsourced content written by someone where English is their second or third language. It does hallucinate yes, but with refining the output is vastly superior to most seo content farms.

You dont get it because this has nothing to do with website content. I am talking about on social media and forums.... you know, places where you want to speak to real people. I also explain why I feel the way I feel if you care to read my reasoning.

Sorry you're right. I reread the thread.

It's crazy huh. Soon the internet will just be seo spam and bots well spend more time discussing things in real life. It's a shame though because some hobbies you can only really connect with are people online.. next few years will be interesting.

The will, im on the border of scared, and hopeful. However I feel like AI constantly invading human spaces trying to pass itself as human will only grow.

This is sad, and many do none of that because the account is fully automated, thats why occasionally you see a post slip through that starts off with "as an artificial intelligence language model, I cannot " because there is literally no human reading what is being posted on the accounts they let run.
I miss being like most other humans who could read a gpt article and only barely tell it is AI.

Exactly, it is so cheap to do this now too that even if all members on the platform banded together to report it is still possible for a single spiteful dude to go harder because it only cost pennys to make these accounts providing now value. I feel like im gonna need to start reading treads only following specific people I know are real and know what they are talking about.
Unhelpful AI spam is worse that the people who dont even read the beginning part of my post and then comment asking for information I literally already mentioned in the post itself. Just my opinion, id rather see people with no attention span to read asking me things ive already told 5 people in the same thread, than soul less AI.

I wonder if this can ever be stopped or if pandoras box is open forever, not even captcha for post can stop it, heck, we are on a forum where 30% of the people are probably using captcha bypasses, gsa etc.

It wouldnt be so much of a problem if they actually set it up right enough to answer the thread's questions properly, I do admit many people ask questions that is literally a google away in the snippet, but for some reason they think it is better to make a whole post.
(not that im judging, many times on valuable forums you will have random people give you the information you didnt even know you needed to hear, the type of stuff google isnt going to hand you if you dont already know what it is).
Like google can tell you what are black hat methods and list them but you will be hard-pressed to actually learn how to do it properly without speaking to real black hats.

We got em boys

I hate it specifically because most of the posts dont add value, if someone is asking about parasite SEO methods on BHW and looking for real-life expriences, then a bot account describing what parasite SEO means in the comments to someone who already knows and is asking for deeper knowledge is just annoying to constantly see. Imagine if people just went around posting screen shots of google serp surface level information to every thing you say..........

User "Guys the things im trying arent working, how do you guys do parasite SEO? "

Glorified bot account giving surface level information:
View attachment 250743

90% of the time Literally all the information you get from them is stuff you already know, its like a serp you cant click through on for social media.
Was this still image helpful to you?
are you making millions yet?
have you started action?
On a side note, I love how the 3rd result is medium.com
lmao, this is beautiful.

.............................

It is so disappointing when you start reading something thinking there is a soul behind it but the further you get, you realize you just wasted your time reading an AI-generated opinion.
I know you are trying to be funny, idk if you generated this but it sounds VERY much like AI.
Why blame Chat GPT for soulless content that adds no value? That has been happening long before AI came on the scene - content writers (even the good ones) aren't experts on everything they write. They take stuff from other places and rewrite it in a more engaging way.

All Chat GPT has done is to make it faster, cheaper, and easier to do it.

Secondly, about the post results - Google is not able to understand what your query means and give you the right answer. But that is not the fault of the person who published the article, you need a better algorithm at Google's end.

Im specifically and ONLY talking about on forums and social media, a whole blog post of AI content will provide a lot more information than the surface level bot spam in forums.

SECONDLY you completely misunderstand my point in posting the serp. I was showing how surface-level content is useless like seeing a serp but not being able to click it and read those articles, I never said the articles dont have value, it is the same with AI, it knows so much but if it is only providing surface level spam because people are post count inflating then it is useless to readers.

I am also not claiming those serp were not good result in itself, I have not read them all etc, im just saying if you can only read the titles and small snippet (surface level content) then you learned nothing.

Sorry, I re-read the thread and understand what you mean.

I agree, forum posts are useless if there is no human experience to be shared beyond the textbook answers.

The grand experiment of the internet as a medium to bring together humanity has failed at the altar of our own greed.

It's crazy to me how you only need to use chatgpt for a few hours before you notice when someone else is using it to write something. Definitely annoys me when I think I'm getting a human opinion and suddenly realize it just AI.

I was in the same boat, OP, I was really pissed off about this for a whole month. I resolved to report every single ChatGPT spammy message to forum mods, regardless of what forum I was in. I probably reported a hundred accounts a day, across forums, for a few days. At the end of a week, most of those accounts/messages were still around.
Noone cares. If forum mods and owners can't be bothered to crack down on this, there's nothing to be done.

they will likely look for ways to weight human information
Btw, Sam Altman, owner of OpenAI, also released the "WorldID" project, which aims to use biometric scanning (iris scans) to establish a unique digital ID and "proof of personhood". It's a centralized, Orwellian privacy nightmare. Of course, it still doesn't weigh for human content, humans may use ChatGPT trash and link it to their UID.
Check out the WorldID and WorldCoin projects, they establish the motivations of Altman and co. beyond all doubt IMO.

yeah mah dude it's everywhere ATM. It's startin piss me off even tho I'm 100% trying to be positron.

Try findin a site you trust and searching that insteada google or facebook or whatevs

I agree sadly, but on the hopeful side I imagine humans will always want ways to communicate with just other humans so we will find ways of having spaces eventually.
It's only going to get worse from here
and im already going crazy as is

YES! and this is gonna continue for most of us, as content writing in 2023 has sort of become (ai content rewriting and editing). So much "writers" you can pay right now would already be doing the same even if they dont admit. I dont say AI cant give good information, but as far as its place in spam on forums were you only want to talk to humans, it annoys me to my core with the added fact the short AI comments on forums rarely add any value at all as they are so surface level.

This is so sad, I can feel my annoyance making me want to go overboard with reports but the lack of care kills that motivation. gpt 3.5 is so dirt cheap that id need 10 of me to be reporting all day long if some spiteful bass with a single api key decided to go hard. Account age doesnt even matter as so much of them are using aged accounts.

Ahead of your time, how much do you want to bet in a few years we will have entire forums of ai speaking to, asking questions to and arguing with other AI to simulate activity.

I should try and stay positron too.

We lowkey already have this though. Just buy any FB account from vietnam or philippines and look at the chat history lol. It's all just bot accounts sending each other "hi" and "<3" every week or so, to build rep in a FB account farm.

Also, what if we thought of it this way:
What if the mass spam of AI content that will inevitably clog the internet - will devalue internet reactions and conversely add value to in person interactions? Think of forums going in-person. Therefore everyone speaks to each other in real life. I think that could be one positive outcome of this pandora's box.

Specifically online on forums and social media.

I have read so much Chat gpt content that it is oddly quick I can tell im reading something written by it.

The flood of accounts using chat gpt to write responses to people questions is killing me

I dont think it helps anyone when you ask a question looking for human input

and get some guy or bot that just copy-pastes the most useless chat gpt answer which barely answers the question

and did nothing but explain the original question.

I hate it so much, I see something I think is gonna be useful.. I read the first 6 words and already have a feeling it is

GPT, I check the account and its some practically brand new account pasting useless surface level

information all over the forum or social media.

It kills me to see posts explaining what SEO is (not even in a useful way) ...... in a place filled with SEOs

Maybe this is my curse for using gpt content in my own things but it kills me when you want honest human

answers and experiences just to get some guy hitting you with a:

To get backlinks for SEO, create valuable content, reach out to relevant websites, guest blog, and participate in online communities. Prioritize authoritative and relevant sources for maximum impact on your website's visibility.

like everyone and their mother doesn't know this, even the worse seo could have said just as much.

Maybe it is just in my head, I but I do know it is going on because even plugging their comments into

AI detectors you can clearly see 90% of the stuff they say is generated.

I was on a forum for mechanics......... kept seeing posts from AI accounts defining what mechanics do................. in a place filled with mechanics

like geez, thanks, im sure the dude who has been fixing vehicles for 20 years appreciated learning what a mechanic was.
I love this and I really don't see too many people realizing this simple fact: adapt or die mfs. Laziness ain't gonna help you in this brave new world(NO I'm not talking to OP here at all, he gets it).
To those of you who want to make money in AI and mad that everyone has the same tool? As a former adult affiliate marketer with plenty of success I will tell you this is the key : you need to have an edge. With me in the beginning it was superior programmers on my team + guy who was crazy good at finding methods. That's what I'm talking about you need to have some type of advantage (whatever it may be).
So if you're out there and you truly want to make money with AI. Be ready to dive into with everything you got, and to choose an area that you are interested in (the area that you'll advertise whether it be crypto/porn (like me)/whatever). ..and most importantly you're not going to have some magic breakthroughs or progress in the beginning. Remember, everyone is doing this, you have to have an EDGE. What's your edge you gotta' ask yourself? I had multiple edges in my 20 years of adult spam and guess what happened in the end? Lost my edges. it's 75% edge and 25% hard work.

I don't get the negativity here. Chatgpt writes much better content than outsourced content written by someone where English is their second or third language. It does hallucinate yes, but with refining the output is vastly superior to most seo content farms.
Yes, it writes better than some awful content writer working for slave wages in a 3rd world country who spends 5-10 min googling articles for source material (some of which were probably written by other people like them), that's not saying much. Yes, it writes better content than most SEO farms, which produce pure garbage.

You don't get the negativity? I don't get giving it praise for being better than such bad alternatives lol.

Well sure, that's already a thing.

Look at porn for example. Why do you think cam girls, then Twitch THOTS, then OF blew up like they did? There's been a basically unlimited amount of free porn online since before there was even the WWW (newsgroups, BBS').

The reason the cam/twitch/OF "entertainers" got so popular is because people got sick of the endless ocean of impersonal content. They wanted some direct interaction with other people. Humans, as a species, are hard wired to be social.

We're also hardwired to seek out novelty.

So the glut of ML generated content will become boring. Despite what the gawking masses who have no experience with this stuff prior to ChatGPT think, these LLM systems and AI in general is still very limited. That means what it produces is limited and when you generate endless content within limited confines, you get repetition, which gets old... quite fast.

People will still gawk as various forms of AI improve, the way those of us who grew up watching the internet go from 1200 baud modem dialup to multi-gigabit fiber and gigabit Wifi marveled at how fast it developed and "changed everything" (but not really).

But eventually, AI will become as mundane as the internet, mobile phones, tablets, and computers in general are now. Something ubiquitous that we take for granted, see little to no real novelty in as it basically becomes a commodity.

That will only make authentic human interaction that much more sought after as it will be less and less common, especially as more people introvert themselves into a vapid life of "living" through a screen.

Yeah I totally agree on this. ChatGPT is already pretty mundane to me as I use it in almost every uni assignment. I find myself gawking more often when people aren't using it.

But, yeah. Repetitive content produiced within the same confines will get boring and people will be bored of it.

I'm thinking more in a communicating with people context, rather than communicating with content.

I think it will transform how we communicate with people. The ease of generating email replies, linkedin posts, insta posts, whatever, it will all get easier to do and people will start to devalue it.
Even now I find myself reading instagram comments and they are clearly AI generated, so I have subconciously taught myself to skip over those comments.
Also the same thing with ads. Any one of those talking AI things, I immediately scroll past, just cause my brain has filtered it as "junk".

So, what does this mean?

Well, as this stuff grows in popularity and there is more of this "junk" people will realize the only way to minimize this junk will be person to person.

For example, no longer will people value you reaching out to them on linkedin - there will be models that send and generate mass messages. Linkedin job recruiters will get spammed hundreds of spammy messages a day and will render the messaging part of the platform useless, they won't care about receiving messages anymore but rather place more value on the people they meet in real life.
