Hello BHW community,

I hope you’re all doing well. I have a question regarding the implications of changing my blog topic after receiving Google AdSense approval.

I recently got my blog approved for Google AdSense, where I initially focused on making money online. However, I am considering shifting my content to gardening.

My Question

Will changing the topic of my blog from making money online to gardening cause any issues with my AdSense approval? do you have any experience? Thank You :)

according to this it's not recommended to change the niche:

Besides, google doesn't like sites changing niches anyway, so if you rely on organic traffic for Adsense earnings (which you probably need to do anyway since organic is the recommended source for Adsense) you will struggle ranking (or not rank at all) since google could penalize your site because of this change.

Last but not least, domain names can cost at little as $0.99 nowadays, so just get a new domain and set up a new site in the gardening niche. And this way you will even have 2 sites earning you Adsense money instead of 1 :)

Not at all a problem, you are not violating any adsense rules. It can affect the rankings though because it gives an indication to Google that you are not focussed with the blog niche.

No, changing the topic of your blog wont cause any issues, since yiu are nit violating any rules.

Hey,

Congrats on getting your blog approved for Google AdSense!

Changing your blog topic after AdSense approval is a common concern, but understand the following 2 points:

- Google AdSense approval is tied to your website's content quality and adherence to their policies. As long as your gardening content remains compliant with AdSense guidelines, you shouldn't face issues with your account.

- Switching to gardening will change your blog's niche, which means AdSense will adjust the ads displayed to suit your new audience, which could impact your earnings.

Good Luck :)

Changing blog topics after getting AdSense approval is generally not a problem, but it does come with some nuances that you should be aware of.

  • AdSense Approval Criteria
  • Impact on Existing Traffic

  • Content Consistency

  • SEO Considerations

  • AdSense Policy Compliance
  • Reapplication or Reapproval
  • Possible Delays in Revenue
  • Gradual Transition

  • Monitor Your Account

Imagine this, someone subscribed to a YT channel doing car videos. They suddenly switched their niche to fashion. The subs are simply going to stop watching the videos and YT will eventually stop recommending your videos due to poor engagement.
Same thing applies for a blog too, you may not face any problem with adsense but your traffic will tank to a level where you'll have nothing to monetize using adsense.

If your new topic violates these policies then AdSense may suspend or disable your account.

I'd rather prefer to start a new blog instead of completely changing its niche after Adsense approval

i have done it for years without any issues, just don't switch to something that might cause your adsense account to get suspended

Changing blog topics after AdSense approval can raise concerns about compliance and revenue impact. This discussion dives into potential risks and best practices for transitioning content while maintaining approval and earnings stability.

I have experienced this myself, after recent updates, if you change niche, google will simply dump your website, and organic traffic will be lost, so if OP relies on organic traffic then changing niche is a bad idea

It is not at all a problem, I have done it in past without any ranking drops.

Your adsense will not be in any danger because of this happening. But site rankings might get affected.

Changing your blog's topic shouldn't affect AdSense approval as long as the content remains high-quality, original, and complies with AdSense policies. Just ensure the new niche follows their guidelines.

You shouldn't change the topic as there is a chance to get penalised. Better start anew with another blog about the topic that you want to start.
