Hello everyone,
Running an ecom store on Meta and need your take on what's working best right now. Currently, I use Single Image/UGC for cold traffic (great for hooks) and Dynamic Catalog Ads (DPA) for retargeting. Catalog ads are easy but look super boring for cold audiences. Single images give me 100% creative control.

I have two main questions:
  1. Cold Traffic: Do you default to Single Image, or is anyone successfully scaling cold traffic using Catalog Ads (DABA)?
  2. Retargeting: Is standalone DPA still alive, or have you shifted everything into Advantage+ Shopping Campaigns (ASC)?
Personally, dumping both single images and the catalog into one ASC campaign seems to be the only way Meta stays stable right now.
What’s working for your stores? Drop your stats below.

Put everything in one ASC campaign single images and catalog together works best for cold traffic right now.

honesly dumping everything into ASC is the only way right now, catalog inside asc works crazy good for cold too.

If your single image creatives are already hooking cold traffic well, i probably would not replace them completely with catalog ads. hybrid setup sounds safer than going full catalog for acquisition.

Still getting better results with UGC for cold traffic, catalog ads work way better for retargeting in my experiance.

You can scale cold with DABA, but only if your products are highly visual and already have engagement data. Otherwise, you will waste spend.

Many advertisers still prefer Single Image/UGC for cold traffic because of stronger creative control and hooks. For retargeting, DPA remains effective, but ASC has become the default setup for many stores due to better automation and stability. A hybrid approach often performs best.

One thing nobody mentioned... watch your existing customer % inside ASC. Meta loves spending on warm/retargeting inside the cold budget and it makes the ROAS look better than it really is. Set the new customer ratio cap or you think your cold is crushing when half the spend is going to people who already bought.

I still keep a seperate ABO testing campaign just for creative, single image and ugc, cheap budget, find the winners then feed them into ASC. Dumping raw untested stuff straight into ASC just burns money imo.

Standalone DPA isnt dead but ASC kinda eats it for most stores now. Catalog inside ASC for cold only really works if your products are visual and you got enough engagement signal like @GEN WORLD said. For boring product categories single image still wins cold every time.

for cold traffic DABA can work well if your product feed is optimized with good titles and images since Meta pulls from that for the creative.

For campaigns to acquire new customers, many advertisers still prefer Single Image or UGC content because it offers good message control and is easy to grab attention. Meanwhile, DPA remains a worthwhile option for remarketing. However, ASC is gradually becoming a popular choice due to its high level of automation and consistent performance. Combining multiple methods is often the most effective approach.

for cold traffic single image or ugc still works better for hooks and testing angles, catalog ads usually perform stronger in retargeting, and yes many people are moving more into ASC because it keeps delivery more stable
