She did music videos thats how she made money. She also bought a stripping pole. DR.Phi started her career really
 
I doubt she did much. She doesn't strike me as the entrepreneurial type. I am certain after she was on that show, a team of talented PR jumped on her, made her viral and are most likely taking more money than either her or her mother.

She's legitimately doing music now. In an interview with The FADER, she said that she originally didn't realize this was going to happen, but just decided to go with the flow when she saw her obvious popularity growing in the media.

Now she's actually developed a fanbase; She's signed to Atlantic records, has a management/PR team and everything. Full fledged with website merchandise, and has a lot of media outlets covering her. Not the best reputation, but she's making something good out of a bad situation.

All the power to her, haha...

Instagram is definitely the way to go if you know what you're doing!
But she got pretty lucky in this case though as she made it without even knowing what she was doing.

That's pretty crazy. If all that is legitimate info (which I'm sure it is). Just goes to show that social media really can change lives. For better or for worse.

I personally don't believe in luck. Yes Dr. Phil gave her a place for such a situation to occur, and for her to say her famous catch phrase, someone was smart enough and ready enough to take advantage of the viral value of her personality. I don't know if it was her or a marketing agency or whoever, but with 8 million followers someone knew what they were doing. It is hard not to earn something from that on Youtube alone just for having that many followers as long as you keep releasing videos.
