I don't know if it's a big factor and if it matters even. I just chose unpleasant ones because most discussions mentioned that.
I used over 5k different keywords, but most are related.

Update 1:
I noticed a big jump forward in Yahoo! Another example of how easily you can rank in there. Site went out of top 1k in Yahoo too when I did the blast, but emerged back to #34 (from #36 before the blast).
Nothing has changed in Google, maybe later in the day it will.

Please keep update the threat.
I think google algorithm are counting the "SEO Value."
OnPage SEO (Format : Tittle, H1, H2, Internal Linking, etc) and OffPage SEO (backlink) are counted as value.
The unrelated anchor backlink, unrelated backlink source are still counted by google in low value.
And the biggest value are in the quality of the article itself.
I think after several dance they will go back.
If competition is high, google will then look for the content quality.
If the content is good, it might be a change to go up.
If not, then it will be on the same position.

Have to say from my own experiments doing similar things the only result was the websites in question started ranking for some of the 'interesting' terms I used for their negative SEO campaign.
Terms they still rank for today well over a year since the first experiments were run.
Certainly guys searching for various sex aids in many US cities get very unusual results because of the experiments.

lol no, not 235 million backlinks
13k backlinks --> target site
500 backlinks --> 13k backlinks (each profile has several links on it)
500 backlinks --> 500 backlinks
= 14k backlinks

13k is nothing compared to what a major corporation will do to the unknown name if they want to knock them out of position. Try hundreds of thousands. Those are just the bad links. Then add in the emails you get with confirmations of submissions to ads, ffa sites, etc, because whoever did it, got your email address from your contact page and used it in programs. Title-the name of your store. Description-Porn about girls. And to top it all off, your store sold products for children. And, two of your excellent keywords in the top 20 were "girls ---"

There's nothing to clear up for me. I know it happens because it happened to me two years ago. If I was smart enough to get in Google for excellent keywords using strictly white hat at the time and being alongside chain stores, then I would be smart enough to bounce back. I didn't.I'm not disallowing anything, take note of the word I used. I'm just saying there's not reason in posting the usual "they'll come back stronger" if you don't even know or haven't tested it for yourself. This is exactly why I made this test and thread, to try to clear this up

Here's an interesting article about when Google penalized JC Penney this year. I don't think I'm allowed to link, so put "The Dirty Little Secrets of Search" into Google with the quotes. Read the NY Times article that is first in the search results. I don't want to accuse because I wasn't there to see what happened, but in my opinion, I find it very interesting that JC Penney was number one for the keywords I was in the top 20 for when I got thrown out of my position.

I know. But I think it can still be done today, especially when a major corporation has a lot of money to hire the best. Look what happened just this year when Google penalized Overstock and JC Penney.

I Tried the same but with 75 000 backlinks on a 10 year old domain with a 1 month old page......
didn't work.
Be carefull doing this, you might bump the site up....
Or atleast whatever you do, don't rely on trying to sandbox aged domains... It could backfire...

That's odd, could you explain a bit more in detail what you did?
As for the site I kicked in the nuts, it's not my competition.

Everyone that has Xrumer and tried this now that works.
But 14k profiles is too low,on my tests it usually go on a dance for 3-15 days and back.
But if you make 50 k blog comments for example and submit on the same day,the dance can go longer,and usually the rank will not return the same,i always used blog comments to sandbox because they index much more faster than profile links,so the effect is higher.
But this dont work on all sites obviously,the sites more vunerable are the ones with few link building or with new age.

Did you read the article I posted about in this thread? JC Penney even beat out Samsonite dot com for the keywords Samsonite carry on luggage. It happened during the holiday season. Read the article. Look at all the words it beat everyone else out for. It happens to sites and not just vulnerable ones.
He already said that he didn't get it sandboxed, simply dropped its' rank.
However, I doubt it will stay.
