Post penguin generic anchor text has become very important. In this case study I will try to see what will happen if you create links with only generic anchor texts like "Click here", Visit this webpage. etc.

The plan
1) Get a EMD or keywordhq.com kinda domain with around 3k to 5k exact searches.. Competition will be low to medium competition
2) Do top notch On page seo( Will make use of SEOMOZ report to make my onpage perfect).
3) Publish few articles. Maybe upto 5 to 10 targeting the main keywords and interlinked within the site.
4) Backlink the site with generic anchor texts ONLY!. I wont be using my main keyword as anchor text. Neither related keywords

Links will be from Web 2.0s, PDF sites, Video sites, PR sites, High PR bookmarks and other platforms which provide good quality links. Then I will just blast the Tier 2 with spam links with generic anchor text again.

I never tried this but so I actually wanted to test it out and see what happens. Will google be able to detect my main keyword from my domain or from my onpage SEO?

If you have any suggestions let me know. I will be starting this case study in a day and will update the thread whenever something interesting happens.

Sounds like an interesting case study.
Anyway, keep in mind that even if your on-page optimisation is "perfect" you'll have a harder time ranking for your keywords. If you want to keep the anchor text % ratio at minimum,do at last 5% of your links as targeted anchor texts and you'll see faster improvments.

Beside that,if you want to keep people active on your journey, post daily updates even if nothing significantly happend.
Also, you might want to ask a mod to move your thread on the correct section

Let's see how difficult it is. I am also doubtful about the quick rankings but nothing wrong in testing. It will also be interesting to see what happens to this site after the next penguin update. Lets keep it at 100% generic anchor text as of now. If the site is not getting ranked for the main keywords then maybe I will work on exact match anchor text in backlinking

I will try to update it on daily basis once the site is up and running and yes its been moved to the right section now. Thanks for the mod

Apply Co-Citation Strategy And You Can Then Rank With Generic Anchors :)
