I've done lots of sites like this before, but I figure I'd post a case study/real time journal here in case someone wants to follow along.

Background:

Keyword selected
- 7,990,000 matches
- 491,000 exact matches
- 14,000 searches per month
- 1,300 exact searches per month
- Avg CPC: $2.21

Status:

- registered domain
- already have hosting
- transferring nameservers
- already have WP theme picked out

The niche is something that is kind of a hobby of mine so I have already written a bit of content. I will likely write all the content myself as most content writers suck, I refuse to use low quality content on any of my sites, and I already know more about this niche than any random content writer would anyway.

I will update this thread as I go. Feel free to post questions.

No, I won't tell you my keywords. I don't like copycats or extra competition.

What exactly are you going to study?
Bulding an adsense site in general, ranking it or writing content for it? Or something else like keyword research and how much it matters?

Oh, good luck by the way. Will be monitoring this thread.

Perhaps "case study" was the wrong term. I have pretty much everything planned out already so this thread will be more like a documentary, or progress as I go. Maybe it will help the people who don't have a concrete plan.

- nameserver updated
- WP installed
- Google Analytics installed
- Google Webmaster Tools installed
- Google sitemap plugin installed
- first 2 pages of content uploaded

Doing the exact same thing (with your keywords) nah just kidding.
I'll be following you.

how much $ u invest in?

So far:

- $10 for the domain name (registration + free private reg)
- I already have shared hosting which I am putting it on to start, I haven't averaged out the cost to see what it is per website but I'm sure it's just a few bucks per month, so let's say $2 per month average per website for hosting as of right now
- An hour and a half setting up all the stuff, installing a plugin, creating a new ID for this website on my Analytics account, making a few changes to the WP code, and writing the content so far. Like I said it's a niche that I'm pretty passionate about so I can write easily about it.

So about $12 as of now.

Yeah, I do my own content for the key articles on my site these days. You're dead right, cheap article writers just don't provide the necessary quality, they just want to dash it off as quick as possible. And if you're going to hire a $100 writer (I predict those guys will be seeing a lot more work in times to come) you might as well write it yourself.

I must say I completely agree with you.

Anyways, it doesn't seem like a hard niche, so I have plenty of faith in you.

Following with excitement. Niches have always been my fav place to make cash.

To me the fun part is growing your site. Yes making money off of it is the goal, but the work involved in getting there gives you a better feeling than the money you make.

Ah, I see. Well, that's very kind of you to spoonfeed the beginners :P.

I have to agree with this, the feeling that you have achieved success yourself is great!

op what is your aim here?
1. do you want to bank with adsense
2. do you want to see how fast you rank your site
or any other?

I think that should answer your question turdface (turdface... wat). He wants to document how you build a niche site.

I love adsense whitehat sites (or at least mostly whitehat things done). It's just because i don't have time creating one and I admire people who create niches that are in line with their passions in life.
