I took the holidays to "defuck" some of my sites. density surely made google puke - but it was great content and perfectly readable.

sidenote (as I am a splittesting nerd ..)
To find out "usual" % real-world Density, I ordered some fiver dudes to do some transcript of some of my popular videos (took 5). Found out, the usual "du, und, das, die" (which is "you, and, this, that") sure are around 2,5% on average (some call them stopwords - http://www.ranks.nl/stopwords/german )
. but but 2 word KEYWORDS and main keywords never reached high % in my video transcripts - so this concludes me again, that natural density is important.

timeframe? ONPAGE fix are nearly imminent. as soon as the crawlers get the site again, ranking changes.

sadly, this onpage stuff did not get any page to #1 - but it was impressive enough to defuck pages -20 or up to -50 in rankings!

sadly, I found out, like 80% of my domains and 80% of my content has this issue.

though, as some sites luckily have nearly no excact match external achors (what a shitword) and no competition, onpage problems were not that severly aggravated.

I still have some hell of a work to do. cause I only fixed the front page of my projects - still got hundreds of articles to go...

I could write a 1000 words post on this, but in the end, I just refer to the article of @phpbuilt . cause everything is explained there.

in this case, that keyword wasnt even ranking the /, but subpage - which clearly states you got a penality on that site... fixing density, dropped -100 !!!

on most cases, ranking droped 0-10#.
in nearly no case, ranking got worse after onpage fixed.

What's your average keyword density for long tail keywords? 3-6 words long.

I currently have a website that was ranking #1 which fell to #2 ~4 weeks ago, added 900 words of content, the keyword is 4 words long and has a density of 1.27%, over the past month even after adding 900 words of content and getting more links, it dropped to #4.

you think that 1.27% for a 4 word kw is too much?

For keyword density I keep it around 1.5% to 2.5% but people do just fine with just 1% density.

You could try upping the density or changing back to the old content.

I just review my site and fix on page issues, and add some KW relevant phrases and synonyms.... and its help me and improve my ranking.u should also try

1,27 for FOUR WORD is clear to much. guess how much % then your 1 2 or 3 words will be. read the guide and the thread. if you have to many internal AND external excact match, this will blow up even more.

reduce it to ,5%, resubmi site, check cache afer 48 hours and ranking and be suprised.
also, check if external exact match are less than 5% overall.

Found another example (its a small site, I don follow regularly) but also impressive -45, during 48 hours. and # are stable for days
For this site, however, I bought some EM in the past.

I am thinking about trying to rank that site- seems there are no competitors on those KWs

I have one website, which is ranking for targeting keyword at spot #9 and it's 2 word keyword, but i have keyword density at 2.56%.. Do you think i need to lover it to came to page 1 ?

but 2% TWO WORD in all my tests was too much.

do a test, and monitor # for a few days. and lower it to 0,7-1,1%.

in all my test, lowering KW density NEVER brought negative changes (even if I took it completely off the page itself. this proves that EM internal an external anchors helps explain a site too. or ranking sites and pages without a target keyword is possible with just offpage anchors.

in your case, just be aware of offpage exact match anchors - if you set EM links in the past, this can cause the usual google dance.

I am tryong to fix that now, but that is a offpage EM anchors problem ... even removing keywords from site completely did not help.. so I have to unfuck offpage...

but that was my own fault. I got too many EM PBN posts for that site - UNDERestimated how powerful those sites were..

and to be honest - use ahrefs and a cheap ranktracker like serplab - otherwise you can really monitor corretly.

No my website is not in google dance .. It's stable at spot #9.. Like you said i changed keyword density to 0.9% and will see the results soon.

Thank you again.. I have all my pages over 2% with keyword density.. I changed the keyword density to the standarts in PDF .. I hope this will help with ranking.

Changed density on 2 articles to test yesterday.

One had 1.50% the other 1.27%
First one is now at 1.08% the other at 0.9%

First one dropped from #25 to #28 (its maximum was top #8 but it feel down to 20's for some reason, was hoping this could get it back up)
Second one dropped from #3 to #4

Will wait a whole week and see, if they don't go back up then I'll change the density again

Orderd 10000 of crappy blog comments -
his onpage density was 34% for his desired keyword...

now, sit down: he pay FOR HUNDRED, 400€ for those LInks!!
and 300 € for a keyword stuffed STATIC HTML page with spelling errors in them..

WTF..


that happens when you want to be cheap in first place..


will do the usual "density fix" on one page for him. give him advicee, and so on..
he can order his HTML kid to do the rest of the cleanup... or better /dev/null the whole site...

those are not due to onpage changes. thats the usual fluctuation. happens to some SERPs on some keywors on my pages to.
of you wnt to be sure, just "refix" the side, get a old revision. submit again, and tada... nothing will dramatic will happen...

if it fell from 8 to 20something, there was some other stuff. perhaps to many internal exacht links? changed strucutre? of page links?

this thread is also to get the people to stay pigheaded an optimize the shit out of each page. do multiple revisions.
