Case Study: .COM/NET/ORG/MOBI/INFO/US

OK, yeah, I appreciate you are trying to get results with a totally hands-off approach to see what happens. I TRY to do new sites that way anyway, but I usually haven't got the patience, and have to start doing some press releases and social bookmarking sooner or later!

I won't ever even put adsense on these sites, they are just for testing. Build enough sites at a time and it is easy to let them sit for a couple months before you start trying to rank them. There is never enough time, lol.

useless test no offence.

on web search .mobi will rank poorly.

on google.com .us will outrank .info but still be below the com, net, org. .com will rank first. .net second, .org third. Your test has statistical bias because all of them have same content and are on same ip hence Google will apply anti-spam filters to them all. If it doesn't, the domain that was indexed first will rank better.

just my expectations, but again the test is not properly performed so the results can be different than what i expect.

OP thanks all for your efforts. But no need to discover America again. ".com" is much better than any domain else. There may be some exceptions.

If you really want to prove something, you should do it on at least 10K domains. So you may present something here.

All other options will be totally misleading and some newbies will think that "OMG INFO is better than all others. I have seen it in BHW". That is totally BS

So COM comes first. then NET or ORG. Stay away from INFO. That is the one and only one rule in this industry.

Kind of sounds like you didn't read the entire thing because it makes most of your statement irrelevant.

One thing I have learned, believe half of what you see and none of what you hear. I will take facts for it, not the answer that changes on every other web page.

Once again, I have heard many things but have not seen any live results. Lots of BS in the SEO world because everyone wants to be a guru. I do my own case studies on things all the time where I find my results to be different than those given by everyone else so I am doing it myself. The multiple stages make up for many of the things you speak of. There is no reason to do it with 10k domains, that wouldn't prove anything.

I just got a keyword name domain .info looked up the keyword domains and found 0 for search still the .com is taken but the people who own it don"t know seo I'm just planning on using the domain as a 301 search index redirect. But I think the seo matters more on linkbuilding then on the URL extensions I commend you op and can't wait to see the results.

LOL.. ive searched and found loads of instances of .com and other tlds ... the lesser are shit.. simple.
Perhaps the fact is that the info im searching for cant be found because it was on a .info tld ???
Well said on the above post, no need to discover america is there.. we know its there i personally cant prove it but its there.

Yes i am a fucking guru.. .mobi and .us and .info are the cats arse
.com .net and .org are the dogs bollox...

The end !!! Please close this post

A very good case study by the op, will look forward to results. However, in my opinion, you can even rank a good keyword with a .info extension. Anyways, everybody has their own beliefs.
Thanks
omni

I must of missed your link to it. Good luck guru,

I think most people just read stuff and never try anything. You cant know until you try. So good idea

I looked around and couldn't find any studies, not that they don't exist but I didn't see them. Therefor I don't want someones word for it I want to know for sure as I am doing this for myself, just figured I might as well share the results.

All the domains combined were about $20.00 and my buddy wrote the articles for free, I have a dedicated server with 8 GB ram, dual quad cores, 1.5 tb hard drive, unmetered dedicated 100 mbit, etc.. So hosting obviously wasn't an issue. If you can't drop 20 bucks to be positive about something then get out of IM.

I think most people just assume this to be true. But I haven't seen any technical data proof of it. So I just always go for the top tld too when setting up new sites. I would be really interested to see what your results are. Please keep us posted.

I personally would like to know the answer, Maybe I.m going against the grain, but I don.t think the TLD matters as far as the search engines, It.s the human factor, A .com net or org is more trusted by humans. I too only use infos as throwaways, but not because I find them any harder to rank,

Also because of this the top gurus use the top three tlds for long term, so obviously you are going to find very few .info s in the top places.

Still these are only my opinions, so I will bookmark this post and watch it vigorously

Thanks to the Op for taking the time and expense to do this experiment

Whether this experiment has been done 1 time or 100000000000 times, another sample to add to the tests adds more statistical validity.

Thanks for the tests OP, I'll be following you to see what your results are.

Looking forward to results. Props to the OP and don't listen to all the self-made "gurus" who are no more than trolls. At least you're DOING SOMETHING! Update when you have more information!

I find ideas like these great.. especially as google is very volatile and prone to changing around its algorithm

Are those exact match searches local or global?

The US will rank well only for the local US searches or google.com (not a bad thing, just saying the others will rank better globally)
