fascinating to see you work your way through all of this. wish you well and just in case you werent sure, i can tell you now that we're all rooting for you.

btw, i cant remember who suggested it, but earlier on in this thread it was mentioned that the service providers you are using might load the dice in your favour if they discover that you are running a journey that includes reviews of what they do and how they perform

the suggestion was that your orders are placed via third parties and personally, i think thats a great idea....

either way, i'll keep popping back to catch up on your progress. bon chance!

NOTES

An AdSense click, how about that. Also, instead of one link being in the first twelve pages, I now have two. The home page is gone, though, and the two links are to the two most-viewed articles.

Looking at some of these responses.

Matt88, I'll be re-formatting and posting a new pillar article today, so I will put it up on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest in a new board when I am done. Thanks for the input, and I'm definitely in a niche where Pinterest can be good traffic.

xinga, I appreciate all the time you took into responding. I'll definitely continue amping up my Pinterest progress. I'm at 26 followers now after a little over 24 hours, and that is with 500 followings, but 200 of them were people in my niche, 300 were people that follow them. I'll go in and unfollow some of the old, unupdated niche-based ones and follow more of the updated people who follow them. Again, appreciate the time you took to respond, and I'll take the suggestions and go with them.

HANDS-ON

Time to edit Hekke's article (the first of two). The article started at 1,084 words. While I liked the concept and content, there were a lot of changes that needed to be made and several things that needed to be added in order to get it to my personal level of article satisfaction. The complete edit took me a little over an hour and a half (I really just need to get a quiet room and some dictation software), and when I was done the article was a whopping 1,678 words, with links to reviews, social things, personal suggestions, and more.

I posted it to Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest with the featured image from the post and interesting wording, and called it a day. It's fuckin' Saturday, I've got non-work things to do.

PLANS

Tomorrow I am going to follow more Pinterest and Twitter accounts, start editing Hekke's other article, and handle the subreddit things.

Monday I am going to begin writing out a full-fledged guide that I am going to offer for an email subscription signup. The email form will be through Aweber, as I already have a subscription there ($49 a quarter). It's going to be on the sidebar of every non-homepage page. I am going to try and figure out a way to put it on the home page as well without it being obtrusive or obnoxious. I will also finish editing Hekke's other article, format it and post, and share on social media.

The guide is my big hands-on task for next week. That plus scheduling posts, gathering more images, and a couple other tasks. I'm trying to cap my time spent at an hour or two a day, noting that this hour or two is spent working on this project about 60% and multitasking with other things for the other 40%.

Again, I won't add a link to This May Work again until I get the log updated.

HANDS-ON

I started by unfollowing ~60 Pinterest accounts that were in my niche, as most of them were highly inactive. Then I unfollowed another 40 or so accounts that I had followed from a related niche account that were inactive/no pins/no profile picture. Then I followed another 150 or so from that related niche account, avoiding those with low numbers of followers/pins. Then I went on Twitter and use the Javascript trick to follow around 300 people who followed one of the products I had reviewed on the website. Next week I will do some unfollowing of people who haven?t followed back.

Then I went on the subreddit I had created that was an exact match for my search keyword, and added one of my aged (2+ year old) throwaway Reddit accounts as a moderator, as I didn?t want to spam a subreddit with my normal Reddit account. I added twenty links, six of which were to my site. They were highly inconspicuous, everything had a unique title, and all the links to my site were staggered throughout the rest of the links. They all had thumbnails as well. Everything about that was going smooth, and I had a nice base to work from.

Then I had a goal to edit some of Hekke?s second article. The article started at 1,071 words. Again, the concept was great, the content was good, but there were a lot of formatting and grammatical changes that needed to be made and things that needed to be added before it got to a level in which I was satisfied with it. This site is my baby, and I?m hoping it makes a steady profit by the end of the year, and continues to do so for years to come. I started editing, and will finish tomorrow.

I'm such a retard for not seeing you answering me in the notes section. I just noticed, sorry about that.

Okay, I have a question, my impression for January were around 1.1k. I see you have a relatively stable small amounts of traffic, are they mostly coming from social networks or because that amount of traffic can't and impression would not be normal?

Also, seems like your TF and CF ratio is non-existent, perhaps that will improve over the course of time?

And your CPC for AdSense is really high, keep doing the good work. :)

Good luck with your journey!. It is interesting to me as i outsource certain work.

How is your page speed doing at the moment?

How is your page speed doing at the moment?

Desktop 81/100. Suggestions include minification, image optimization (of only the AdSense ads, go figure), elimination of Javascript/CSS render-blocking in ATF, and browser caching. All under consider fixing, nothing under should fix.

Mobile 69/100. Only should fix is Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content. Same consider fixes. 99/100 UX.

Pingdom is 72/100 now. "Your website is faster than 82% of all tested websites". The largest number killers by far is the AdSense.

Good luck with your journey.

I too have a MNS with adsense but currently not earning. Ordered link building services here also on BHW.

Excellent and inspiring thread. I will follow along and will soon start one. All the best :-)

NOTES

Checking on acquisition data from February 3rd to the morning of February 8th, we are looking at 78 total sessions. 42 from social, 23 direct, 8 organic search, and 5 referral. Out of the 42 social, 31 are Facebook, 8 are Twitter, and 3 are Pinterest.

HANDS-ON

More work on Hekke's second article. As I stated before, the article started at 1,071 words. Again, the concept was great, the content was good, but there were a lot of formatting and grammatical changes that needed to be made and things that needed to be added before it got to a level in which I was satisfied with it. When I was done, the article had a whopping 1,740 words. It had links to product reviews and social media, and flowed perfectly from one section to the next.

I Tweeted and Facebooked it with the link, title, and associated image, and added it to Pinterest as well under Featured Articles with the meta description pulled for the description under the image in the pin. Then I followed another 50 people on Pinterest and another 180 or so people on Twitter with the Javascript trick from Stack Overflow.

PLANS

Ten of the 16 articles came in from NatashaNixon, so the guide is going to be put on hold until next week. These ten articles are going to be individually edited and scheduled out once per week for the next ten weeks. Five of them I will expand past 500 words and make them full articles, the other five I will leave at their 400-word level and make them blurbs. This, plus more social media interaction, is my goal for the rest of the week.

I may have another update later today if time allows.

Again, I won't add a link to This May Work again until I get the log updated.

Nice journey. Good to see someone working with the BHW marketplace and writing about problems and good things.
You spent a lot of money without any income (yet). Hopefully you will start to bank soon.

Thanks. I'm in it for the long haul with this site. I'm willing to go $2,000 or so in the red before it starts making gains. I'm looking for a passive income stream for years to come. This is a pretty evergreen niche that has been around for 50+ years, so I doubt it's going anywhere. After June or so I hope to shorten my time spent on the site down to one update's worth a week here in the thread. At this point I will move on to ramping up the keyword that Ste Fishkin set me up with a few days ago.

NOTES

That's right, a jump of 33 positions in the SERP's between yesterday and today. I'll take it. Another 11 cents in AdSense as well. Started at the bottom, now we're... still at the bottom for this site. Highest traffic day ever yesterday though.

HANDS-ON

Nothing today. I'm a little behind in some other projects and need to play some strict catch-up. I also am doing some serious edits to http://www.thismaywork.com, splitting the updates from here over there on a day by day basis instead of having a 20,000+ word single site page for every update. That would get out of control quickly. Feel free to check out the construction process if you'd like.

More updates on my Authority site to come tomorrow. Stay tuned!

I am following up and appreciating the progress. .. now let me think loudly what i would do

1. After several years i have begun widening my risks online. This surely is a massive a good project in the long run
I would create atleast 3 projects " diversification and safety" and delegate most of the tasks here. Cost wise id order more hence save more too.
I am not criticizing anything but personally id widen my net and delegate. Google once punished my white hat site or so i thought it was whitehat and i learnt diversity.

Good waiting for next update so far the biggest lesson i have learnt is social media is very critical. I always take it for granted

Nice thread I've been following. Just one question, are you not worried about the achor text being over optimized with only using 2 keywords with the link package you ordered?

NOTES

Another jump of eight spots in the SERP's for the site. Splendid, since two days ago I was fighting in and out of page eight. Surprisingly, even though I'm paying a little bit for Facebook traffic, it only represents four of the hits yesterday.

HANDS-ON

I'm going to take the day off again and let this ride. I received the remaining six articles from NatashaNixon. Friday into next week is going to be editing those the way I want them. Again, five of them are getting expanded into full articles, five of them are staying around 400 words or so, and the other six I will expand, refine, and use as guest posts places.

I'll give this batch of articles from NatashaNixon a 6/10. I was initially given a three day turnaround time, but that turned into five to six when I specified a writer. I waited seven and asked for a follow up, and received ten articles. Three days later I asked for another follow up, and after 12 hours received the final six articles. The articles are great quality, but the 3x turnaround time was a turn-off.

PLANS

As stated above, next week will be about editing those sixteen articles to my liking. I'm also going to add some review materials to the home page. I'll amp up social media more, maybe make a couple more social media accounts, just for the backlinks. I also had that micro niche site from keywordspot that I need to update some more. That site itself could be worth some cash.

All updates are now posted individually to my site http://www.thismaywork.com (under construction but readable). It's NSFW, so if you are somewhere where you can see titties, click on in. Otherwise, you may want to block images, or wait until you are home, or just not click.

One of the best journey discussions that I follow. Congrats on your SERP jumps. Thank you

I am going to supercharge my productivity and maintain focus by not posting anywhere on BHW except this thread and service threads with my reviews until I get some serious traction with this site. Goodbye, Blackhat Lounge. Hello, progress.

I have also taken This May Work offline for the time being. It was causing issues with taking up too much time for something I didn't even really need in the first place. I may revisit the site at a later date. I may just remove it entirely. All I know is I need to focus. This isn't the first time I've scrapped side projects in favor of this one, and won't be the last I'm sure.

-SH

EDIT: Changed my mind about the only updating once per week. Too much going on with this site.
