Like seeing you actually put in the time and money. The difference you can make from sheeple that fail is by either succeeding through perseverance or failing at first and succeeding after. There is no failure, there is only delayed succes. Good luck man!

Good luck with your journey bookmarked will be following.

Eternal1912 (content): Article currently in progress. Should be completed today.

PassionateWriting (content): Spent another $75 for PW to write another six 500 word super-high-quality articles for me on the general overarching niche topic. Estimated turnaround time was set at 8-10 days.

aluminium (content): Article currently in progress. Should be completed in the next day or two.

d3t0x (PBN): I was the earliest bird for d3t0x's PBN review copies. They are offering to host two websites and pay for a year's registration. I like free stuff, and I'm good at writing reviews, so I'm down. Both websites will literally only have one URL, mine, and one link pointing at them for one keyword (mine as well). I'm keeping this nice and clean. No clue of the TAT, but I'm not sweating it.

STATISTICS

No new visits, nothing to speak of rankings wise. Is this discouraging? Slightly. But I'm in this for the long haul. I did check Google via "site:[SITE]" to ensure that my pages were indexing. They were all there.

HANDS-ON

I hunted down another nine extremely high quality, soft free stock photos from various sites (mainly using http://librestock.com/ to find them). Then I resized them all to 800px wide (all but two ended up being the same height, yes!) and renamed them to match the previous photo batch I had made. Then I popped them in the trusty JPEG compressor to shrink the image size to down between 35kb and 70kb. Perfecto. I then uploaded those nine new images into the Wordpress Media library for the website, bringing me to a total of seventeen extremely high quality, niche-based images.

I rewrote the first blog post. There weren't a ton of changes that really needed to be made. I am a perfectionist, though, and since I had a perfect base post to go off of, it took a whopping fifteen minutes for me to rewrite the post paragraph by paragraph. I managed to add another 170 words to the post as well, and the reading ease score stayed at a 70+. I also added in one of the new stock photos I had optimized, as an almost 1200 word post with one image looks funky.

I re-did the meta description to better match what was rewritten, and then added a few words linking to the Reviews page, and another quick paragraph in the introduction area to mention the two Amazon products (using short links right to the products) that were reviewed in the article from PW. This brought my word count to around 1250, and made the outbound link orange light disappear.

I saved and checked out the post page. Something I hadn't noticed before, having had only one post when I looked at the post page format, was a related article and more from author toggle. It looked awesome. Keeping it.

So, let's do a quick run-down on what we currently have on the site going into the New Year:

- Two 1,000+ word blog posts (one rewritten, one raw)
- A 1,000+ word review page with two 400+ word product reviews (all raw)
- A personalized, wonderful logo
- A fully functional contact page
- A home page with a recent posts section and a product review sidebar section
- A highly-optimized site experience with a fast load time and minimal clutter

And here is a quick run-down of what is to come in the coming weeks:

- Two more 1,000+ word blog posts
- Six more 500 word blog posts
- Rewrites on all content for perfection
- Continued work on home page formatting
- Even more site optimization and page speed work
- That PBN setup mentioned above
- Personalized About and Home page content
- Social media creation and targeted ad traffic

PLANS

See above for my complete run down of plans in the coming weeks. Have a wonderful New Year, everyone! I will be back with another update on Sunday or Monday.

Eternal1912 (content): Article was completed on time. Ended up being around 1,100 words vs 1,000. I?m very impressed with the article quality, especially for the price range. 9/10, highly recommend.

PassionateWriting (content): Articles currently in progress. PW stated that articles will be sent as completed vs all in one batch. Just a reminder, it is six 500-word articles on both my sub-niche and the overarching major niche.

aluminium (content): Article completed on time as well. Extremely high quality, would recommend as well. 10/10.

d3t0x (PBN): Work in progress on the PBN review. Will update when an update is available.

STATISTICS

Nothing of value to speak of at all.

HANDS-ON

When I Googled my site for indexing purposes, I noticed that a date was included for some reason in the meta description. This was cutting off the last few characters of the description I had set using Yoast. I went in and edited it back a few characters to ensure that all of the description could be seen when searched.

Looking through Eternal1912?s article, I noticed that the article he sent me could be perfectly split into two articles: a pros and cons list of my sub-niche compared to others, and a how-to piece. I split the articles, formatted them properly, set up headings, categories, tags, and meta information, and added images to each one. I did the same formatting process to the article from aluminium.

After posting, I checked the home page and noted that the formatting of the recent posts widget was doing wonderfully. The two most recent posts had large images side by side with a quick look at the first 15-20 words. The three other less recent posts had small images with the titles and date beside them. I also added the top bar menu, which consisted of links to the two product review articles.

At this point, I wanted to get a base social setup going. I created a Facebook page. The Facebook URL for my exact match name was taken, so I chose Facebook.com/[NAME]net as my domain was a .net. I added one of the blog images as my profile image (the logo looked bad in square form, will fix later) and since my niche is beauty, I set the preferred page audience to women ages 18 to 50 interested in shopping and fashion.

Then I added a link to the post I had edited on the website as a status update. I also added a cover photo and a mission. I also set the home page of the web site as a Contact Us call to action. Then I started a Twitter. I was stuck with [NAME]1. Not impressed, but whatever. I set the Twitter up with the same profile image, cover photo, URL, and quick bio, and the same link from the Facebook feed as a Tweet.

PLANS

Before I continue any more social media work, I am going to do a full re-write on all current content, as well as site tweaks and work on all pages to get them in tip-top shape. The six posts from PW should be done next week at some point.

Hello and I wish you good luck with your journey.

Don't get discouraged from the low to no traffic at all, it's pretty normal if you start completely from scratch.

Keep doing things as you do them so far, be as persistent and consistent as you are now, even after some time passes, and even when this whole project finally starts giving you money. This journey somehow reminds me of how I started one day, while sitting on FB and said to myself : I have to make this piece of trash ( my pc at the time lol ) work for me, and not have it standing there just for me to lurk all day. Now, this website ( and its retail store ) is my main source of income, and it had ( and still has ) its ups and downs as with everything else.

Keep it up and you will surely be rewarded.

One suggestion for the resizing of your photos : I prefer using Photoshop's feature save for web, as I don't trust all these plugins from the web and/or wordpress. You have total control over it and you can do it locally before uploading everything, so it saves you bandwidth and disk space on your server and your internet line.

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread, best of luck!

Hey man I really appreciate the pep talk and the vote of confidence. Glad to hear about your success, and I may check of the Photoshop save for web feature. Thanks for stopping by!

STATISTICS

I found one of the articles (the one I had made edits to) on page ten for the term I am trying to rank for. Progress. No new visitors to speak of. I really want to get all these articles edited and the site polished before I start working on serious traffic and SEO.

HANDS-ON

I edited another one of the 1,000-word posts I had received earlier (I think it was Faith's). Not much editing needed, as our writing styles are very similar. The article started out at 1,030 words and finished at 1,175. It took me a little bit of time, as I was also responding to emails and putting out small fires here in my day job. I put a nicely-tailored link on the new Facebook page, and also another one on the Twitter account.

That's all I did today on the website. Busy day ahead. I should be able to edit another post tomorrow, and repeat the same process.

PLANS

Before the week ends, I am going to connect the Facebook to the Twitter so the updates can only need to be done once. I want to have the articles all edited by the weekend, and move on to final formatting for the site before starting some traffic campaigns and SEO work. I will also work on starting up a Google+, a Pinterest, and an Instagram, and getting a template for a mailing list widget through AWeber.

Quick question, hopefully not daft, which image processing websites are you using as I'll need to reduce the size of my graphics.
Thanks in advance.

Not daft at all. I'm using http://compressjpeg.com/. Quick and easy since I never really have a ton of images to compress. There's a tab for their PNG and PDF sites as well.

Thanks for stopping by! Let me know if you have any other questions.

This is probably the best my journey ever. How long till you kick in the SEO? What are your monetization plans?

Nice, a case study. I will be following this study/journey and learn from it. Go for it, mate.

gary2 (PBN): Currently doing another Jr. VIP review for this site on a PBN package offered by gary2. The review includes three PR3+ contextual backlinks with a high DA and TF. Looking forward to see what he has to offer.

STATISTICS

No new visitors to speak of. 10 total over the past 30 days. Of course, I'm not ranking for anything, so there's that aspect of it. I really want to get all these articles edited and the site polished before I start working on serious traffic and SEO.

HANDS-ON

Some plugins needed updating on the site, so that was taken care of rather quickly. The article I worked on today was a pros and cons list from Eternal1912. The article was 592 words, as it was a much longer article I had split into two. I saw some expansion opportunities in the article itself, so I had a go at it. Once completed, the article ended up being 1,231 words. Fancy. I also included links to the two current product reviews available on the site.

Then I edited the home page recent post block to include large images and excerpts for all recent posts, not just the two most recent. If you're using Newsmag, I changed from Block 2 to Block 4. Another busy day on my day job, so that was all completed today.

I want to have the articles all edited by the weekend, and move on to final formatting for the site before starting some traffic campaigns and SEO work.
