The guys at Niche Website Builders recently uploaded a video showcasing the results of a case study that involved the evaluation of over 5,000+ content websites.

Here´s the full video...

...in the video, they showcase some stats that kind of opened my eyes to some very important stuff about blogging.

For example...

So, in the first table, they claim websites getting around 10k to 25k monthly visitors (according to Ahrefs), and assuming an EMP of $25 they are making around $300ish per month with an average of 289 pages. So, websites making around $2.7k per month have, on average, 600+ pages.

I know these are average, and there are a lot of assumptions (like the accuracy of Ahrefs data, SEO, EMP, among other things), but I believe it denotes a more important issue that, nowadays, to make $2,000+ a month on average, you will need 500+ articles published?

I know the competition has gotten harder, and I don´t have a study on my own to make any claims, but I feel this is a bit too far-fetched to me.

Thoughts?

definitively far-fetched in my opinion. I don't have any study either but I know of websites with fewer pages making more than $2k/month :)

1) Most traffic or revenue comes from only 10% of the pages. All other pages are merely getting traffic. So the average article count is meaningless.

2) Some may say the rest of the 90% of pages that are getting no traffic/money is to build up topical authority so that the 10% of pages can rank. Maybe. This case doesn't show whether these content sites are niche site or general sites. How many articles are covered to build up authority per niche? Don't know.

IMO, the case study is good for giving you some insights. This case study is just one of their(niche website builders) marketing strategies. Whether the case study is accurate or scientific does not matter.

but small articles can still bring quite pack of traffic if you have a lot, imo. 400 articles bringing 10 clicks each will give you roughly 4000 right?

Is there a way to adjust it for age? A website that has a lot of articles probably has been around for longer, and will have other metrics going in its favor.

Depends on the age of the domain and amount of articles being pumped out per month... Meaning, A timely situation...

Also depends on if the sites were generated with AI. I see sites making bank with sexy well written human articles, and AI generated sites with thousands of pages and getting dirty piss traffic. I have seen that blood, sweat, and tears make a genuine site... Doing it whitehat with a sprinkle of blackhat does work.... And the AI stuff is just a 'We'll make 100 AI pages a day and cross our fingers"... Start out doing everything whitehat and add in some BH and you have a chance... Either way.. These days, the scrapers sometimes prevail.... If anyone knows how to get a half way decent 10 year old that lost 60% of its traffic back... Please message me... I'm going insane trying to see what I may be able to do to get traffic back.... So many factors... Maybe I'm too high... But if anyone can help or suggest, I would be eternally grateful!
