Can't get a prescription for modafinil..!

My nose septum is severly deviated since childhood, to fix that doctors have already asked to to go through a surgery to fix that deviated septum so that I can start breathing properly like other healthy individuals and don't have to use nasal spray for like 8 times a day..! I. Using the nasal spray since a decade now.


I was searching for smart drugs and really wanted to try adderall, but unfortunately my country (india) has banned amphetamine salts..! Insane, now my only option left is armodafinil or modafinil..

Due to to my DNS, both of my nose gets blocked during sleep time and unfortunately I have to wake up and spray to start breathing again which actually disturbes my sleep cycle. I feel dizzy and sleepy all day, my eyes just don't want to open . I even have fatigue due to less sleeping.


I have contacted 2 doctors so far and none of them could help me, 1st GP said don't take modafinil and consult your ENT, I contacted my ent and he is not even aware of what modafinil is...!


Should I goto a psychiatrist instead?

I really need some meds and I am pretty sure I have adhd but unfortunately there aren't any medicine available in my country for that..!



I ALREADY HAVE MODAFINIL AND HAVE TAKEN 50 MG WHICH DIDN'T HAD ANY EFFECTS ON ME, I STILL HAVE 8 TABLETS LEFT BUT I AM WORRIED ABOUT THE SIDE EFFECTS AND THIS IS WHY I WANT TO FIRST TAKE ADVICE FROM A DOCTOR BEFORE I START TAKING 100 MG..

I don't think that a Physiatrist is the kind of DR you need as they deal with sports and work physical injuries from what I understand my issue was a fractured hip). I saw one for 8 or 10 months back in the day and actually became friends with him during that time.

I would guess you need to look elsewhere.

Very hard to judge. I wouldn't take medical advice on an SEO forum. Taking the surgery is no option for you?

It is possible but I really want to try modafinil lol

And I am pretty sure a lot a IMers and programmers take such smart drugs

Rule NO 1 of medicine: Never take advice from Google or the internet in general. It doesn't always end well.

See a good doctor if the ones you've met already are not good enough for you.

Not really, 98% of the information I have gathered from the internet is pretty accurate and interesting. I always search a lot before I visit any doctor. Most of the times what they say is almost as same as what I learnt on the internet a day before.

Google actually works lol if you take advice from some good reputed health sites but still must consult your doctor.

You should get the deviated septum sorted out surgically so it doesn't cause sleep problems as poor sleep may be causing your ADHD symptoms.

In the meantime, probably see a Psychologist or Psychiatrist for adhd. Some stimulants like amphetamines are banned but I believe methylphenidate can be prescribed. There is also Atomoxetine which is a non stimulant medication.

50mg of Modafinil is a relatively low dose, it's typically used in 100-200mg doses. If you didn't get much of an effect at your starting dose and no side effects then it's probably okay to try 100mg on your own to see if it works for you. But you should seek medical advice before using it long term or at higher doses.

I have Sun Pharma tablets.
Medicines are extremely cheap here in india with almost same quality.
I got 10 modafiniles ( modalert 100 mg) for US$4 lol.

I have too but not as bad symptoms but get a surgery the country should pay for it, I dont understand why u talk about meds and psychiatrist

Haha, you can get Modafinil in India for less than 10 cents per tablet and it's over the counter.

Exactly lol, But is it really over the counter?
On the packet it says that you need a prescription, but I can buy pretty much any medicine in india without showing any prescription lol.

Oh yeah you're right, I guess it's scheduled but not a controlled drug so you can still get it without a presciption as you say.
