Canonical Tag Related Problem

Hi SEOs loving people,

For any e commerce store, what would be the best solution for filter based generated urls regarding their own canonical?
I think search engine think that particualr filter based generated URL's have also their canonical tag.

Do I have to genereate dedicated canonical version for that particular url. For example abc.com/product-name/square_size=2



Please help

Unless abc.com/product-name/square_size=2 has significantly different content than abc.com/product-name/, you should set the canonical to abc.com/product-name/. Google is usually quite good at sorting this out for itself but it certainly doesn't hurt to do the work beforehand and add that canonical link.
