Canonical Question

Hey guys,

I'm kinda new in SEO and I'm trying to understand if I'm getting the canonical concept right.

So I have an affiliate website with recommendation posts on different products, at the end of each post I add related tags and I can see the tags are also indexed in the search results.

Does google consider these tags as duplicated traffic because it leads to the same product?
Does it help to add the canonical tag to the original post just in case?
