Are you having trouble adding a payment card to Facebook Ads? Here are some common reasons and instructions for safe, transparent fixes – absolutely no tricks or scams.

1. The card is not activated or does not support international payments
Cause: Some cards (usually domestic Visa/MasterCard or not enabled online) are not eligible to run ads.

How to fix:

Check with your bank to see if the card has enabled international payments.

If the card is a debit card, make sure you have at least $1–2 in your account for verification.

Try using a different bank card or credit card if available.

2. Facebook suspects risks from strange devices or locations
Cause: You add a card from a strange browser, unusual IP address or virtual server (VPN) → Facebook automatically blocks it to ensure safety.

How to fix:

Turn off VPN/proxy, use a personal network connection, popular browser (Chrome, Edge).

Log in to your Facebook account on a commonly used device, then try adding the card again.

You may need to wait 24–48 hours if you have just been rejected multiple times.

3. The advertising account is restricted or has a history of violations
Cause: The advertising account shows signs of abnormality, unpaid debt or has been warned.

How to fix:

Visit the Facebook Ads Help Center to check the account status.

If you have debt, pay it off completely before adding a new card.

If restricted, submit an appeal via “Account Quality”.

4. Temporary technical error from the Facebook system
Cause: Facebook sometimes experiences temporary problems with the payment system.

How to fix:

Log out, try again after a few hours or use another browser/computer.

Check at: https://www.facebook.com/business/help/ or Meta Status

5. Facebook requires additional verification
Cause: When adding a new card, Facebook sometimes asks you to verify your identity, business account or email.

How to fix:

Visit Facebook's Security Center to check your verification information.

Update your email, phone number, documents (if required).

With BM (Business Manager), make sure you have added a valid page, role and business name.

✅ Quick summary of how to handle:
Cause How to fix
The card does not support international Use a Visa/Master card with online payment enabled
Use a strange IP/VPN Turn off VPN, use a stable personal network
Account violations Pay debt, protest, check account quality
System error Try again later, change browser
Request verification Add personal/business information

Additional suggestions:
Do not try to add multiple cards continuously, it is easy to get your account temporarily locked.

Avoid using cards that are not in your name, virtual cards of unknown origin - they are easy to be rejected and can cause your account to be permanently locked.

Solid breakdown covers most real reasons cards fail on FB. I’ve faced the VPN/device issue myself, turning that off helped instantly. Good reminder to avoid rushing or using shady cards too.
