Especially when you're just getting started in the LinkedIn Ads space, it can be difficult trying to navigate what's actually going to be useful for your business.

For instance: is LinkedIn the right advertising platform for your efforts in the first place?

This is, as usual, going to depend heavily on whether or not your brand resonates with the goals commonly linked to successful LinkedIn advertising, which can be as simple as asking yourself some questions like "Are you shooting for B2B sales?"

LinkedIn is a great platform to connect with business owners, marketing professionals, specialists, industry thought leaders, and the list goes on.

It's not a platform that would be a good fit for CBD advertising, or clothing advertising because it's dominated by men, the home of business professionals, and a professional platform for B2B communication, enlightenment, industry knowledge, and other business-related opportunities.

You have to test with small amounts and if it is profitable scale it up.

Sure it can. I think the main question is regarding scale, and cost over benefit. Basically, you'll want to make ads on LinkedIn as worth it as possible by maximizing the avenues of growth through the platform.

When you're dealing with a SaaS business, considering you're (your company) developing a software product and also published in SaaS marketplace listing sites, the equation would be how to execute a GTM strategy.

Obviously there will be many channels to promote, still linkedin adds a leap advantage over any others. While promoting the brand for the SaaS via Linkedin Ads, on to a specific laser targeting interest groups ranging from Business promoters to software evangelists whom were in a key decision making ranks, rather the ads don't convert for the leads but still it creates an impression of registering the product to their heads.

On a sequential note, go for a retargeted ads with more intense specification of the product, ask the users to attempt your website/landing for a demo or to a free trail. Again, do an user based targeting ad and this will bring lead.

Note: On a quick summary, Linkedin ads should be focused more to create the impact about your business/brand to the decision makers you're looking for and to educate the user group with product usage and awareness. This is not like Facebook or Google's CPC/CPA Ads focusing on instant conversion and expecting the users to sit in your landing page basket.

It is not only for SaaS or a IT based landscape, you can wisely use this Linkedin direct or the Ads platform to engage more business users by doing extract the funnel based targeting.

LinkedIn can also be a lead generator, if:
  1. You target your audience properly
  2. The call-to-action and action itself are easy and give a bit of value for the client
  3. Client is (most probably) an SME
