Can You Rank in Google Without Links?

Good content, good on-page optimization and connections. You could always try and use the social media method, just post pictures of big butts in bikinis for a little bit; it's almost a given.

The largest advertisement budget anybody has ever seen would probably help you out immensely as well (kidding, of course).

EDIT: 700th post, who wants to send me $10,000 as a reward? ;)
I'll reward you 10,000$ if you bring me 10,000$ and a beer!

If your talking about your affiliate site that you want to make money from as part of your portfolio, then no.

On page SEO is enough for you to get rank even if you don't have any backlinks. Quality or unique posts is the key for your success. I have had a blog without backlinks but still ranked by Google.

You can not rank on google without links unless it is a low competitive keyword and even then it is still hard. It took me a year to rank for a keyword with 400 monthly searches without backlinks.

If you chew on a four leaf clover and wash your hands in unicorn urine before you start typing your content then yes you can rank. :)
Just kidding... i think with a LOW competition keyword if you write LOTS of quality content focusing on the main keyword and some LSI keywords. Like 2000-3000 words of content, along with good onsite optimization you could do it...

my website's page dedicated to local SEO is ranking well in SERP. What I only do is effective content and onpage.

If the competition isn't too high you can rank with a mixture of high quality content and social signals.

1 year? U were obviously doing something VERY WRONG!

Yes you can. In fact for white-hat, it's what you should be aiming for as backlinks will build naturally if you've got a good authority site. One of my old customers had a site with about 15 keywords ranking 1-5. Fair enough, most were niche-specific but a couple were pretty broad and we were kind of surprised.

Good content is important, obviously, but the biggest change came about when we reworked the internal structure. Breaking down into context-specific landing & child pages, good url keywords and lots of internal links we saw massive serp movement without any (deliberate) backlinking activity over 3/4 months.
