Can money buy happiness?

Every Sunday I like to take time of work and go deep into philosophical subject. Today my subject is money and being happy. Just looking for some collective thoughts on this subject.

Does money make you happy?
Does your money buy you happiness?
Are you actually happy with your life?

How does money make you happy?
Surely your spending money to buy something that makes you happy. So doesn’t that mean you’ve bought happiness?
 
What is happiness?

The truth is nothing can buy happiness, neither money nor the lack of it can buy you happiness.

But the presense of money can afford you lots of goodies, the question is are those goodies a source of happiness or not.

If money solves problems for you, by all means possible and of course legal acquire more and more money so there won't be a time you'd find it hard solving those problems. But if money solves no problem for you hence has no use to you, there's no point trying to make money even if it's trillions because it won't amount to anything meaningful and useful.

By the way, it's safer having money than not having it at all. After all to me a poor man is a threat to the society while to a rich man the society is the threat.

Happiness is a complex thing. What could make me happy might not be able to make you/others happy too. Money might be able to buy some of the things that will make you happy. But not all of them.
 
Who said money can`t make you happy that person doesn`t have money. With money you will be happy.
People who said money dont make you happy i invite the to send me their money i like to be sad. :)))
 
Honestly, having a stable income would probably make a lot more people happier than simply having money. Sure it's nice to be able to splurge a little, but it's a lot nicer to be secure.
 
A lot of people will say no but it all depends on the situation. If you just lost your whole family in an airplane crash and are terminally ill then no, money can't buy happiness but in normal situations, hell yeah money can buy happiness especially if you had to live very tight most of your life.
 
Yes. Yes and Yes. And that comes from someone who used to have a very comfortable living and now has to struggle.
 
Money can buy you happiness in the short term.
In the long term, you need to find something that will create happiness without you needing to spend money.
 
Having money makes me feel safe, Therefore, making me feel content and happy.
If I have all of the money in the world, I wouldn't need to worry about working. I could finally focus all of my hours into my hobby and helping my family.

Actually, I never thought money itself is a source of happiness. So, NO. Money cannot buy happiness, But on the other hand, money can provide things that brings happiness. Complicated, isn't?
 
Nope. Poverty is better. It can buy you.... Well, you can still believe in God!
 
I heard someone saying (don't remember who was he) that money isn't everything but if you think that money cannot buy happiness than you don't know where the fuck is the shop. I would probably agree with this quote
I still don't own 1 million so probably I don't know yet
 
Happiness and fun are two different things.

Money can buy fun, it cannot buy happiness.

(This is from a book by Dalai Lama, that I read years ago. He says happiness is a long term state of mind and fun is what you buy immediately.)
