Can Link Shortening Services Really Soak Up Bad Links?

I hope everyone is doing well! I just had a quick question I have been using a method advised to me by a very popular niche marketer, and I want to get some validity on how well this method really works long term. OK so I have been using a very popular link shortening service, this service has very high domain authority so it can take some abuse and not really be affected by it.

The niche marketer instructed me to purchase two separated domains both with similar keywords phrases. One of the domains is a 301 site that redirects to the money site. I was instructed to buy and fire links at the 301 domain, but instead of using the 301 domain directly I should instead use the link shortening service to soak up any bad links, and in turn this will pass good links(like a filtering system) to the 301 domain which would then 301 to the money site.

Now I seen this niche marketer do it, and he demonstrated some really impressive results within a few days. Now the problem that I have ran into is my money site has been bouncing all over the place from page 10 to page 2, to page 4, to page 3, to page 6, and now to page 7.

I just wanted to know how useful this method is, and if anyone has tried this before please share your experience! Thanks.

From my understanding it does give you quite a boost in rankings but google have catched up with the method and sooner or later your site will tank. If you are looking for a churn & burn this is the right method tho.

Once again you have proven yourself very helpful Hugoleveille1 thank you ! Anyone have any suggestions on how this method can be improved upon?

Salut Hugoleveille1, are you saying that using link shortening is very bad for SEO? I've recommended it to many of my affiliates lately that were struggling with their traffic after the Google Update....and I should probably stop recommending this or they won't be penalized and de-indexed?

This is one of the most effective methods of Churn and Burn. Buy multiple domains and use a single powerful boosted up 301 redirect. When a domain burns out you just switch the 301. You keep banking as long as you plan ahead and keep rotating.

These are quite strong actually but Google catched up with that method. I wouldn't use too many of those to point directly on your Money Site if you are looking to rank them for a long period of time. If you are going to use url shortener point them to web 2.0's or any other tier 1 you use.

Lightning got it all right. I have not used this method for a while but it used to rank pretty well. The idea was to use Sub domains with keywords i.e. : keyword1.domain.com, keyword2.domain.com etc.. and blast them with thousands and thousands of links.

However, this method is pretty much used for churn & burn and won't last forever. You can obviously start over and over again but your site won't stay ranked high very long (6+ months)

Thank you very much for you wonderful feedback lightningblitz! Quick question how do you know when the 301 site has burned out? *Note* that I have been using a link shortening service aimed directly to the 301 site.

The 301 does not burn out, the site it is redirected to burns out, or your money site. It gets hit with a penalty. So you move on and redirect the 301 to another 'money site'. Rinse and repeat.

OK I understand! Thanks again ligtningblitz! It is really good news to hear that the 301 site does not burn out .My money site is indexed on Google and so far I have not seen any messages of a penalty in Google webmaster tools, I checked other online penalty checker sites as well, and nothing is showing that my site has become blacklisted or banned.
