Can I win this chargeback?

I have won a chargeback dispute or two, when both parties have a PP account with funds in it, just explain and document your side to both Paypal and the buyer. But if the buyer used a credit card to make the purchase, forget about it. Paypal always sides with the customer in that case, as there is no way to get the funds from the buyer, as Paypal will not fight Visa/MC to get it. Fully refund and chalk it up as a cost of doing business if accepting payment from programs that offer chargeback abilities.

I just won a $5,000 claim-turned-chargeback. You can respond to a claim in the PayPal response system, but if he's filed a chargeback through his bank or credit card, send everything to this address: [email protected] I put all the info in a document with relevant links, prettied it up and exported it as a PDF.

Also, be sure to highlight that you tried to work things out with him before he filed. The client in my case was happy before he filed a claim and then wouldn't discuss anything, so it was obvious he was just after money. I think that really worked in my favor. Good luck.

I think you are being fair by offering half refund. And, the buyer is trying to be an a**hole.

Instead of offering full refund (as others are recommending) I would suggest that you fight the case.

Mention everything in the dispute section. I doubt one bad case would ruin your PayPal reputation if you are a long term member. So, no need to give life to the coward in you and offer full refund without putting up a fight.
