I admin over 50 groups... you can rent that cover out all day long to various services, businesses and such.
It will be a little work to generate the clients for that but once you do it is almost 100% passive income.

Depends on the niche.All my groups are active, but I keep them closed for posting ( manually approve the posts) and as BTB - I sell pinned , description or charge the client for likes on his/her page. Reason i keep them closed for members posts - if everyone is allowed to post why would they pay me?
And of course my own links bring in some profit.

You lease the pinned posts too?
I give them that as part of the cover because you have to click to see that if you are on mobile, and in the USA where all my groups are, some 80% of the members are on a mobile device and it just does not get enough visibility.
Now, I do have a pop up for everyone that wants to join were I push one thing or another depending on the group but I don't think that is unique and I imagine all the marketers are doing that.

I dont sell the cover - at least never did, but will make few proposals now 
thanks. Yes , i know pinned is not seen on mobile, but yet clients ask for it and i noticed that when i make post from admin account and pin it , it gets a lot more likes and comments . Members think just bcz admin post it , they have to click . So i just use this in my advantage to sell the pinned

Yes, the questions... it is easy money if you find the right offer.
I have some decent sized groups that grow to the tune of 15 - 25 new members a day and it is really easy money once you find an offer that works.
You'll get the periodic, "That is not a question!" or "That's a sales pitch!" but I don't care and I don't even handle the acceptance of the members 95% of the time anyway.
I just want them to respond to the offers.
