You can stay long with HIGH quality blog comments (the type that have to get approved, on high authority sites). Keep in mid though that your ability to rank (with whatever kind of link) also may also depend on the balance of your link sources, compared to your competitors. If the rival sites on page 1-2 of Google get 10% of their links from blog comments, but you get 25% of your links from there, Google may interpret those links as excessive (even if of good quality) and regard it as your site gaming the search endine.

Yes, they do work. Don't know about spammy out of context comments on websites with huge OBL, but I know about quality comments that BRING traffic as well. I have an ecom website ranking with nothing but a handful of HQ blog comments. Please note that these comments bring ref traffic as well.
Also another thing, few years ago, when I was doing pure BH SEO, there were tons of guys on BHW saying that spammy comments do not work, and I managed to rank for some low competition keywords (50-100$ per month keywords) with nothing but pure spam comments on websites with HUGE OBL. So take everything with a grain of salt, and test it out yourself.

I would stay away from it, even the low OBL pages will get spammed to death after time passes. There are very few paid blogs, where they filter and keep only solid comments with an anchor. If you can find those kinds of blogs, go ahead or else, STAY AWAY!
Agreed. I never claimed you're new to SEO, but your advocation of spam blog comments isn't something I'm interested in (as I explained in my opening post).

The examples you just posted mainly prove my point - they're people who are advocating spam, which everyone knows is very likely to kill your site in the long term - so I'd prefer to stay away from these peoples' advice. And even if they might make other valid points, I'd rather not trust them due to them making such a blunder, (unless I saw something really convincing). If you don't agree with my stance, I don't have a problem with that. Likewise, I might not agree with you, but you'll never find me cursing and swearing just because someone disagrees with me.

They don't work for me. If i use them its to dilute anchors and thats it. And as far as niche relevant ones, you will more than likely run out of sites to comment on in just a couple weeks

Read my post again, I said foul mouthed nonsense, not just foul mouth. You'd be much better off if you only had a foul mouth. Chuck in some nonsense into the mix and you've got a deadly combo. In addition, the former point (foul mouth) necessitates the latter (foul attitude), i.e. you're the one with the foul attitude. Learn some manners.
