Can anyone share his experience buying shoutouts? Does it pay off? I mean, does your number of followers increase significantly if you, for example, buy a shoutout from a 231k Account with +-5000 likes and +-1000 comments per photo?

I usually buy from a guy with 210K in my specific niche.

Usual gain is ~500 followers per shoutout.
 
It really has a limited effect, depends on the source that gives you the shoutout.
 
I have spent thousands on shoutouts, expect to gain 2-10% of engagement on the first couple shoutouts depending on how original and unique your content is. After a couple you gain less each time so its better to move on to another page. I usually work out a deal for 3 shoutouts and move on to the next.
 
The outcomes of these are so individual.

It depends on the niche, the Instagram page where you get the shoutout, the quality of your content, etc.

Always plan it out before buying a shoutout, you don't want to blindly spend money with appalling results.
 
When i first bought a shoutout for my new profile on a 1m page which had for sure fake followers i didn't gain even 300 new followers.

But then i found another page with 950k and bought a shoutout there (it was same niche) and gained like 1k new followers in a hour.

The usual price on a 1m page is 60$ per hour.
