I am currently creating a product and need to copyright it and write up some TOS. Is it possible to do this for free?

ive never actually done the whole copyright thing however i think as long as you stick a copyright logo thingy there and can prove you made it with time stamps.... make cd's that are dated digitally etc then anything that goes wrong can be proved that you made it and its yours and the dates etc..... but protect your back and go do some research

i.e. google 'copyright in new zealand'

Thanks http://www.med.govt.nz/templates/Page____7290.aspx#P68_8175 I always thought it cost money, like getting a patent. I didn't think it would be as easy as typing © Ministry of Pornographic Development, 2008.

Yea, actually since '89 it's pretty much a given that anything you do is copyrighted automatically, especially that which you have emailed to yourself on a server that you have no access to.

Basically, if you mail yourself your product IN EMAIL on a server that is huge and corporate and that you know you cannot edit, like yahoomail, it is a legal form of copyright.

Also, I doubt anyone will steal your product. They will re-write it, and unfortunately there is nothing you can do about that.

Here is a quote from a guy named BigRich on another forum:
