Can an Amazon seller apply for affiliate?

Hello guys,

Recently I've bought a website with USB drives listed (Amazon affiliated products).
I couldn't let it go because that's exact match one word domain. So I just grabbed it.

I'm a seller in Amazon, the products currently listed in that website is still under the seller's affiliate code. He's asking me to get an affiliate account with Amazon so he can change the code to mine.

Now the question is, can I still apply for an affiliate account? I'm afraid my seller account might be affected if I do so.
Or, shall I change that to a dropshipping store?

Checking through the FAQ its not stated there but I think you should be fine, I had a seller account and an affiliate account and they were separate from each other.

glad that seller account and affiliate is separate i was about to ask what if seller account is banned and can I still register an affiliate account. Now i got the answer thanks!

I tried using same information as my seller account and got stacked at phone verification.
No call is coming to my phone from Amazon. strange!
However I receive OTP SMS to my phone each time I log into my seller account.
