Hi all,

I have have found a few great short com domain names for blogging products that were quite hard to find.
(Just for example top blogging camera.etc.)
My question is - can a great domain name bring traffic on its own?

I know it used to be like this in the past. But not sure it still is.

I have an old com news site (http://globelivenews.com/)
that doesn`t attract traffic on its own so my guess is that it`s not working like this anymore.

Your take?

Yes it does. If a domain is like livenews.com or nynews.com etc, these domains can bring traffic as they have good amount of monthly searches per month.

My domain has shit loads of monthly searches on google - yet none reach mine lol

You can get instant traffic with mistyped domains.

How about a domain like topblogs.com ?
I found something very similar free for registration and thought about opening up a blogging guide and blogging gear blog

Maybe u can use pinterest to drive traffic to it.

Definitely! I have picked up several expired domains, rebuilt them and they are making decent amount ever since on autopilot.

Decent as? Thousands of \Tens of thousands of visits? Coz that`s what you need in order to see some decent return on investment

If the backlinking domain has a good amount of traffic then you are gonna get some for sure. It's add a value to your site.

It's better to go for mistyped domains on the niche you really like to work in for an example for pornhub.com - horny people do mistype it as ponrhub.com, prnhub.com and some more you can do this and also wanted to tell that these domains are already bought, which means they are getting traffic and might be able to passive income from it.

Will suggest to start with single niche, by multiple mistyped domains of one niche only.

All the best

Absolutely, if the domain has backlinks on sites which deliver referral traffic you will surely benefit from that once you build up your website on the domain, just make sure you audit all relevant metrics and backlinks before purchasing it.

How can a fresh domain already have backlinks? Sorry for the noob question

As the others have correctly pointed out, a great domain name will always bring additional traffic your way. However, it’s impossible to predict how many of those visitors would in fact be interested in what your site has to offer. Some will certainly stay for the content, but that additional bump is often not worth the cost of an expensive domain.
If the domain name that interests you is accessible, I say go for it. If not, then you may want to go for a cheaper one. In the long-term, content, SEO, and backlinks will do more for your site than a strong domain name ever will.
