Cables 1,000 times faster than current internet major breakthrough

"The study saw researchers make a breakthrough in the control of terahertz quantum cascade lasers, which they say could be used to transmit data wirelessly over short distances at a speed of 100 gigabits. Current ethernet connections work at 100 megabits a second, a thousand times less quick."

The article is clickbait and doesn't know what they are talking about.

"Lasers 1,000 times faster than current internet wires could be created after major breakthrough"

Could be. Also, with current speeds, you can do Netflix and games without any problems.

Damn, I hate you man. :p
Hope mamta didi comes up with something for us. :D

I have a "1GB upload/download" plan and it caps out at like 750mbps

The technician said "I can't even get it up that high.. most I can get is just over 900"

FUCK AM I PAYING FOR THEN?

My ISP was crying When I asked them for 100 Mbps. We really need fiber in India at large scale.

It doesn't surprise me. My friend who works for an ISP who happens to be my provider says they have the potential to introduce speeds of 1tbps but are not allowed to do so due to anti-competitive regulations.

Your friend is bullshiting.

There's no benefit to Terabit outside of massive enterprise level businessess. The average consumer and business wouldn't be able to afford the networking equipment costs, nor the storage costs that 1 Terabit connection would bring.

My first ever internet package was 48kbps :P and I was getting 24 kbps speed lol.
Forget about streaming videos, I used to wait for 30 minutes to download an mp3 file ( for songs).

1000 times faster internet? That sounds like more time on Netflix/Fortnite and less time making money!
Why though? A few Mbps connection is good enough to stream movies or play games. Even if you want to stream in 4K UHD, a 25 Mbps connection should suffice (for 8K you need double), which is pretty general nowadays. You don't need a super fast internet for any of that.

1-2 Gbps connections are commercially available for a while now for not even insane amounts. I just checked one of the providers here, a 2 Gbps download/1 Gbps upload connection costs $30/month.

In every contract there's a guaranteed minimum speed and there's a possible maximum. The advertised is the possible maximum obviously. Most of the time those aren't in the neighborhood of each other. :) You pay for the guaranteed minimum and usually you get faster speeds than that although often it's not close to the possible maximum.

Its dependent on your networking equipment and computer as well as the server you are downloading from.

I wonder what will win out... 5g wireless or this crazy fast wired connection.

  • Romana 1gbps $11 month unreal and true
