I have found a hosting plan that is offering competitive prices for different IPs. Yet they mention that they are D Class IP addresses.

Can anybody explain if this would be a good deal (since I don't know the difference between C Class and D Class IPs?)

Thank you...

ps: I am aware of the different rDNS requirements for SEO along with different IPs. I just don't know if different D Class or C Class IPs will make any difference as far as the SEO goes.

A little better than having everything on the same IP , but as far as SEO goes i'd never use sites on the same D class for SEO , if I was interlinking.

A.B.C.D - 127.0.0.1

You need different C class IPs for SEO

Yeah, apparently Google goes by C class and groups all D ones. Typically a webmaster could have different interlinking sites on the same group of Ds, while it would be more difficult and expensive to have more Cs.

From a networks technician's point of view i would say stick to a class C group, you don't have any use for D or E groups unless you're a technical user and have a good reason too.

D is used basically for like development and research purposes. Also can be used for multicasting

E is just basically used for development and research purposes.

what is the significace of different nameservers for different ips??

Can anyone recommend any hosts that sell c-class IP's I found these two:

  • http://www.seo-host.com/seo-hosting-packages
They seem a bit pricy, and I think are both "host gator"

It seems like most hosting companies say we sell "dedicated IP's" but that generally does mean these are c-class dedicated IP's.

Here is the way it works:
What is a C Class?

To understand Multiple C Class IP Hosting, you must first understand the basics of Multiple C Class IP Hosting. The basics of Multiple C Class IP Hosting is understanding what an IP C Class is. An IP (Internet Protocol) consists of 4 parts: Class A, B, C, D

For example here is what an IP address looks like: 74.86.246.210, the IP address is divided into 4 parts by ".".

Class A:74

Class B:86

Class C:246

Class D:210

So you would want class C differentiation rather than D, because it is more significant. I have not yet done this in practice, but am in the process of setting things up so. That is why I am looking for the most affordable solution.

Please forward with any companies you know of other than godaddy (bane of my existence) or hostgator (who's info is above).

Thanks!

Dude a D "class" means 1 ip :)

A.B.C.* <- C class = 255 available ips

I know a guy who can set you up with a dedicated box for around $300 a month with 11 ips. I know he can give you ips in different C classes. Not sure if they have 11 different ones, but I know I've had them personally in 5 different C classes. PM me if you are interested.

Talk to these guys:
http://www.mydosty.com/Compare-Plans.php
http://www.hostrocket.com/resellerwebhosting.html
and ask them you to give you a price for any of these deals:
http://www.seo-host.com/seo-hosting-packages
tell them you are trying to accomplish what's shown in this page:
http://www.seo-host.com/seo-services-webhosting
both of them are competitive...

ps: no, I don't sell for any of them - neither am I their affiliate. I found these two companies among many of them that I was talking to when I was looking for a hosting company for linkwheel (I am not using them at all because I changed my strategy.)

Ideally - Yes 'C' classes would be the way to go ......but ..

Realise that the total number of available IP addresses is NOT unlimited.

There's got to be a way round this then buying different class c's for every thing we do.

PM me for 15 (yes, fifteen) unique "C" class IP addresses for $110 per year. You also get 3 free domain names. Each "C" class can have unlimited domains! You have the option to choose US or UK datacenter!

Disclaimer: I'm an affiliate for this company and will earn $50 commission. The only downside is you get "Plesk" control panel which is not as easy as "CPanel"

Just PM me for info. :)

Had no idea about this C CLASS D CLASS :-s , but i am able to understand something and getting it noted in my diary for a PLAN
