What's better for authority and ranking. Buying 5 huge links from sites like forbes.com or 10 links from smaller sites like equities.com ?

i would go for the 5 hq ones without a doubt, especially if you get them for the same price

First make sure that any site you plan to buy allow ******** links, because many of the big sites changed their rules and give only nofollow links. I would go with the big websites for brand, authority.. but nothing really guarantee you that you will rank so it is hard to say what is better for ranking.

10 from smaller sites because a site like "equities.com" isn't small. Got some solid authority.

Always prefer the bigger ones. It provides better results than the rest.
