Yes , They are nigerians, They Will bill you more than what they say, you need contact them with 2 months to cancel a service... Please buy a domain from godaddy

Stay away from 1&1, they give terrible products at high prices. Use hover.com to buy domains, they barely do any upselling and have great support

namesilo is what I'd recommend. $8 for a domain and whois protection is a great deal. had an absolutely shocking experience with 1and1

I have a few domain @ godaddy but I don't enjoy having my domains there.

So I actually went and registered a domain with 1&1 to see how many .99 .coms I could get. Used different name data etc and they locked my domain after purchase. Any ideas around this?

there payment renewals are shady. I recently just bought the cheap 1$ domain with them had to wait 2 months then got my site off their hosting and transfered to namecheap asap. Wouldnt trust them.

I would not recommend 1and1 as well, because they really require many documents as you can see in https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/never-ever-register-your-domains-at-1and1-scam.963637/ Their support is not the best and they are not always helping their customers. I had an account with them for few weeks, but after that, i just closed my account there.

Don't go for domain with 1and1. Just stay away from them.
