Read it somewhere that Business accounts have lower engagement rate than personal, as they want business accounts to spend money.

Is that true? Does anyone know about it?

I did read that to so ive mostly stayed away from it because although it may be myth - it does make sense from a facebook point of view i.e. money.

Thats not true. Personal or Business both same.
Personal account on instagram have more followers then business account.

I have a business account, and my engagement is about 35% at the moment (2.2k followers). Will see how it goes as account grows, but at the time my reach is nearly 100% of my audience, so it's totally up to the quality of my posts to drive likes and comments.

I believe both are the same in regards to engagement. Business accounts are useful for analytics purposes but there already tools for that. There is no significant change in the reach so both are the same for me. It is still up to your posts to catch your follower's attention though so you should focus on that.
