Business Idea (and...about me!)

Firt of all, sorry for my English!

Today is my first day as a registered member on BlackHatWorld..but i learnt a lot in the past months from it..so..thank you to all its members!

I am a university student (economics) but i always loved pc and technology.
Since i was young i started developing websites(simple ones in FRONTPAGE.lol), then i passed to developing windows apps..so..i am pretty skilled.

In my firt year of university i tought that i wanted money...i wanted it really bad. i start thinking at a job..and i start do DropShipping from Amazon to Ebay (i didn't knew blackhatworld,so i tought i was the only guy on earth doing it).
I started making tons of money from it (totally white hat. I had also opened a real business, pay tax ecc). But then many others started this activity, and some of them in a fraudolent way(vat refunds from amazon and not paying taxes) so my margins went down..

With my money then i started a Penny Auction site (i looked at sites like madbid and others..and i thought they where making big money)..I invested 15.000? in it.
Lost everyhthing...the whole thing was crap. Every websites uses bots (fake users) to scam people. I am not a scammer..so i lost all of my money and closed. (actually i sold the website)

And now...while a study..i want to start some other business...

I came out with a business Idea..i would like to know what you guys think of it , and i would like to start it whit someone (i think that good business are made not alone but with at least another friend)

My idea is:
A website where i sell:

• hosting + customization of themes (so basically webdesignes , wordpress, other cms, magento,opencart ecc)
• Cool videos + customization of them
• Cool graphics (logos, banners,ads ecc)

As you know a website like this already exists and it is themeforest, graphicriver (envato companies).
Actually envato sells only source file (80% of the people doesn't know envato at all or what a psd file is...nor what wordpress is..

So i would like to see theme + customization of it (if theme costs 40$, i would ask 100$ for the entire site...)

My idea is to scrape the whole themeforest site (already developed the bot scraper) , get images, url of preview page, price ecc

So basically my clients would see all of the themes of envato, but with another price (that includes customization and installation), and if they want hosting.

What do you think?Could it work?

Can you write code in php because a lot of the customization customers are looking for entail eCommerce capabilities? If not consider partnering with someone who can write code.

Yes i can write code in php (the penny auction website was totally php+javascript)
I dont think that for customization i will need a lot of skills in php. I mean, magento,opencart and prestashop are easy to customize with no php skills. Don't you think?

Or you where asking me if someone needs a websites built in php from zero? Yeah that could be a problem...but for time consuming

I think that for general websites i can go with wordpress,joomla , plain html
For ecommerce i would use magento, opencart and prestashop.

What do you think?

Lead with these customization capabilities and select several ecommerce solutions to sell to your customers. Remember, you provide the solution not the customer. I have been doing this type of consulting work for over 20 years so believe me when I say very few customers have a clue, they are looking to you for your expertise and to lead the way.

There's a lot of work to make it work. The idea is good, but you need a lot promotion and also the website itself must have something new than the others.

Thanks for the reply..Don't want to be "rude" but can i ask you how much you can earn doing this type of job (since you do it for 20 years)

Computers , software, technology has always been my passion...but i always looked at it as something on which you can't earn good money..Infact i am studying Economics & Managment and not something tech related..

I think this is a good idea, I have been thinking of doing something just like this, I also think many design companies already use themeforest and just resell for big markup, with as you say a little customization of the template. What about the legalities of scraping themeforest and listing on your site with different prices, do you think they would let you do this?

Themeforest and TemplateMonster have a affiliate program. So it is ok to link their images/url on your website.
It will be all white hat since what we sell is Theme/Video/Flyer/Logo customization, not the theme license.

Everytime someone is buying a theme from us, we will buy it from themeforest with their name/email and after work is done, delete it from our pc as the faq at envato says.

Yes. You're essentially buying the file on your client's behalf. Whether a regular or extended license is needed will depend on your client's use of the end product. With both the regular and extended license you are allowed to charge your client for creating the End Product. Once you transfer the end product to the client (eg giving them source files for the item), be sure to link your client to our licenses and delete the item itself from your computer.

I think it is a good method to make money...but also to do something good for customers. Not everyone has html/css/wordpress skilss...and less have skills in photoshop/after effects.
