I know how to fix an iPhone screen in about 30 to 45 minutes. I've done them for family and friends and they keep telling me that I need to start a business. I've had them refer me to their friends too and now I started charging $40 for repair. Do you think I'll do good?

"Occupation: Working a slave job im trying to escape"
but still you try to get into a similar business :p
well you could try but beware that you will have some upfront cost which you might not think about at all

Of course you should do it. Just make sure you do some market research - charge the right price inline with the competition, don’t under charge.

And also work out how long it takes, what costs are involved (including parts, tax and any other costs) then work out what you are making per hour and make sure it’s worth your while.

Thanks. I think I'll do good because I know how to replace the screen for under $10

Its not too bad then. Costs you $10 per job so you are making $30. Assuming you have no other fixed costs then you are making $40 per hour (if it takes you 45 minutes). Then you also have to think about travel costs and/or posting costs depending how you are doing it, insurance etc. So thats why I said make sure to do your competitor research as well because you might find that if you try and scale the business then your costs might increase - and it would be hard to change things if you get X number of years down the line and realise your pricing is wrong and you cant expand.

I don’t think you should offer only iphone screen repair. There is simply not enough demand for that. You should offer more things, example phone accessories, phone case, android repair, computer repair and maybe create custom software

In that case I can do that too

Do it! But try to get deeper into that niche. Don't just offer screen repairs. Learn how to take the phones apart and fix other things too (like maybe a broken camera or a battery replacement). Maybe even expand your business to tablets as well. It's a never-ending thing!

Oh yes. Since many parts of the Apple IPhone are modular they can be replaced with the know how. Battery swaps are very easy

Do it. Are you using a heat pad or heat gun?

Heat gun and a iopener Look it up

Yeah, you can do pretty good depending on how you do it.

Are you thinking about starting up a local shop or doing it from your home?

I have a few friends who are running small shops in my city and they're making good cash.

They're selling phones, repairing screens, taking off simlocks, selling accessories from ali(huge markups).

There's so many of these shops in my city and the interesting part is that while other businesses are closing down, these shops are still going strong.

I'm pretty sure I'd do good in Atlanta

Check out the competition in your area. Check their sites. Do a WHOIS to check how long they're in business for. See what they're doing and if you can do it better. If you're feeling confident. go ahead dive in and see what happens. I'd rather do that then think "what if" in a few years.

Bro, Google My Business and local ads.

I have a friend that is hiring his third employee, and started just like you.

Once i paid over 200 dollars for a single screen repair. Later on I dropped my phone again and paid only 40 dollar when I also bought a battery for 20 dollars. It was a package deal, otherwise the screen repair would be 50 dollar. Quite a good deal. For the 200 dollar guy i had to drive over 40 miles, the other dude was just some local store which I passed by on a random day. I still find it hard to find a good and i have to admit / cheap / store to fix screens nearby. I think you could even sell leads to other companies in areas..

I designed a site for a friend of mine who does this and with the SEO work we dominated the search engines. He just opened up his 3rd store here locally and does incredibly well.

If you have the cash you could also look into buying iphones with broken screens and flipping them for a neat profit. I'd look into your local buy sell facebook groups always loads of phones floating around.
