Burnout.

Modafinil?
I wouldnt risk abusing anything stronger than caffeine. I just switched away from coffee because it had strong afternoon crashes. I tested all energy drinks to find what works best for me, and I found that my ideal recipe is Caffeine + taurine + amino acids(l-valine, l-leucine, l-Isoleucine)

I guess to each their own. I too switched away from coffee cause of those nasty headaches. Thanks for sharing your stack! Will do some more research on this.

How much did you take and how often?
150mg divided into 3 50mg doses. I used to take some piperine 20 min before taking modafinil to inhibit CYp3A4 or whatever that liver enzyme is that metabolizes modafinil, to get more mileage out of the dose.
Every time I did it two days in a row, though, I hit diminishing returns.

That's like Red Bull, right?

I only took that after traveling (for jet lag etc) I didn't know people took it on the regular.
I take it based on my doctors advice. However you should consult with a professional. But am sure it's harmless if taken in small doses. Also Ashwagandha dont take too much too. Give 1-2 weeks gap in between, it causes fatigue;)

Been at the same position for a long time, this all happens when your business grow to the level where you need a help. I was on modafinil every day for 2 years, trying to cheat the system but that's not the long term solution.

Your issue is that you have a business that you run on your own and that's all. Find someone who you trust, teach him what you do and get him to help. it's better to find people that will work for you and sacrifice some parts of your profit, for more time, that's the only thing that matter.

The hardest part for me was trusting others to run a business, but at the end of a day, if you create a good systems how someone should work and you just manage them, it's going to be easier job. Your goal as CEO is not just to work, it's to lead a team, you wont scale until you get help, since you are like me and if you took a job you will rather finish project before taking a break, but it's always one more thing.

Fuck all that, find someone who can help you and scale up, you'll have more free time to find what makes you happy and you will get your motivation back.

Hope this help

You will need to incorporate some free time into your schedule at this point.

Cut the percentage of work, organize a small trip (it doesn't need to be far away).

No caffeine, alcohol, cigarettes as now is the right time to change.

It finally happened. Burnout.

I've had my foot on the gas pedal with marketing since 2020 pretty much constantly, don't think I've taken a single day off other than when my dad was hospitalized last year.
Taught myself marketing, SEO, browser automation, HTTP requests, social signal botting, using fine tuned AI models, largely inspired by journeys like @BlogPro and @lucky.sparks. Got some really great clients and was able to offer value to them.

Here's what's been happening the past 2 weeks, though:

The first warning sign was that the caffeine "stopped working". Usually, I would wake up, work out, meditate, cold shower and pound down black coffee and jump into work. For the past few weeks I've not felt that surge of motivation kick in the way it used to.
Then I missed a workout.
And a meditation session.
The caffeine stopped working. It made me antsy and anxious instead of motivated.

The next warning sign, daytime sleepiness. I never, ever, ever feel tired in the day, it's absolutely ludicrous to me that a few days ago I thought I'd take a nap. There's nothing wrong with a mid day nap, btw, I'm just saying that FOR ME, it's unusual.

2 weeks ago, when this started, I was still rationalizing it away "ah, maybe I just needed it" etc...but the past week, my progress has slowly come to a grinding halt. Yesterday, for the first time in forever, I spent the whole day lazing around, not even touching my to-do list. It felt terrible, but I just couldn't get my brain to engage. I slept around 16 hours. (Btw I'm not chronically on low sleep, I'm getting 7 hours on most days).

I know that the sane advice right now is "take a break, son". However, I can't really do that. I've made some client commitments based on my old work ethic. Need to snap out of this malaise ASAP. I'll carve out room for a break in a month, but right now, I NEED to be in attack mode, not like a fucking turd sitting around watching youtube videos.

Suggestions? Advice? Tough love?
Are you sure that is "burnout" and not just a lack of motivation like "why am I even doing this anymore"?

You can take a break for one night or one day and enjoy whatever you like.
The world won't end if you take one day off.

Abusing caffeine and such is not a good idea, they only bury your stress but the stress is still there. You need to find your own way to let it out.

Picked myself back up. Slept a few extra hours. Went out for a walk. Spent a couple hours writing about my plans and goals and "whys". Was able to get started working by afternoon.
Thanks for all the encouragement, guys, I appreciate it :)

26 hours after you started this thread, and you are back in the game! Remember to do everything you did as quickly next time you feel overwhelmed! :D

Yup! Going to write about it a lil too.

Mainly, it was this:
Spent a couple hours writing about my plans and goals and "whys"
I spent a lot of time ruminating on the reasons why I want to continue working, not just for myself, but things like helping out my family financially. Just wrote out a ton of potential benefits of my work beyond the obvious, huge bullet point list.
I think a lot of the time, we don't give ourselves enough credit. Just realizing the fact that I can have an amazing positive impact the people in my life, if I continue working towards success, is a huge motivator.

Just imagine...

You "weak up" in a hospital with some wires in and out of your body and a nursery telling you to lie down for a week. Then you get your first visit in a week and your mom/dad/sister/girl... gift you a book

Monk Who Sold HisFerrari

This will happen soon or later, man. So all I can say is...

1.Calm down.
2.Send an email to your partners, clients, etc and tell them you can't deliver due to health issues. Offer them a full refund or ask them for some time when you can over deliver.
3. Turn off your phone and computer for a week or two or a month. The more the better.
4. Read this book and think.
5. Think more.

Re-Start your new life.

Lusten to me. First hand experience. Good luck!

Listen to your body, its more important than anything else.

I developed Chronic Fatigue Syndrome which lasted for 3 years. I was a barely able to function and would crash on slightest of activities. Made me realize how I had taken my body for granted. I am healed now and prioritize my body before anything else.
