Over the last few weeks, I've been learning about Web 2.0 sites and other types of links but the amount of possible links is insane

The question is,

What links should I build to move the needle? Are Web 2.0's worth the effort?

Don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on links, just looking for links I can build across pages and power my site up

I would build branded web 2.0's for sure, they've helped my site rank more steadily

I believe there is a large list of sites for this.

This is from ~2 years ago from good ole @Rachmaninoff

Do these move the needle in terms of Rankings?

I was going to build 20+ web 2.0's to my main site and tier them out but I've had a lot of people say it doesn't do anything

I was also going to create Web 2.0 to each of my pages around my keyword too

Forum links can help a lot
Do they really?

You can get free links from some outstanding sites with:
These CAN help to move the SERP needle.

In addition, you can get free links that are okayish for branding and link diversity on a national level and great for local (especially maps) from:
  • Citations (local, video, image, social)
  • Web 2.0s
  • Crowd Links (Q/A, Forums et al.)
  • Social accounts #

You can try to get digital PR, guest posts, brand mentions or link insertions for free by doing custom outreach, but it's an endless number's game of hustle & grind.

It's typically pay to play.

So shell out some bucks, Shelly. :)

Thank you for your reply!

In your free links list, is it worth building Web 2.0's and Crowd Links?

Sure. Stick to the main platforms, use unique content and don't get lost too much in the details.

These are simple links, so don't expect any big jumps from those for national keywords.

Side note: Powering up your web 2.0s with some good tier 2 links will increase the likelihood of positive SERP changes dramatically.

Ah brilliant, so build a few and power up and I should see a difference?

Is it safe to build the same one multiple times? Such as example.wordpress.com, example1.wordpress.com etc

They can help a bit, but you need a strong foundation with do follow links from real sites. Ranking only with 2.0s wont get you too far.

Ah I see, brilliant

So say I have a page for the keyword "Plumber Texas" and I build Web 2.0's and blast with tiered links

Then created another page "Plumber Florida", could I then rinse and repeat, build new Web 2.0 for that keyword & blast?

brand them, do not create "pbn" types

What do you mean with brand them? for example if your money is called "example.com" would you name your web2.0's with example.wordpress.org etc?

yeah, treat it like a real brand and call it exactly what your brand name (site) is and then publish supporting articles for your niche and link back naturally.

Wouldn't it be stupid to use the brand name of your money site for all your web2.0's? Lets say "brandly.com" is your money site. And you build multiple web2.0's like brandly.blogspot.com, brandly.wordpress.com etc. Google can instantly see that you are building them yourself right?

yes, but that's what real companies do, and that's how we should treat our websites?
